The next season of The Vampire Lestat will continue to focus on Lestat de Lioncourt, but will also explore the character of Louis du Pointe du Lac in more detail.
Sam Reid is back as Lestat, and Jacob Anderson returns as Louis. According to showrunner Rolin Jones, the third season—coming to AMC in 2026—will deliver exciting new developments for viewers.
According to showrunner Mark Jones, the storyline for the character Louis has been developed further than what’s presented in Anne Rice’s novel, The Vampire Lestat, to give actor Jacob Anderson more to work with. Jones said they aimed to create a compelling story arc for his character, and there’s plenty to explore this season. However, he also cautioned viewers that Louis’s journey will be emotionally difficult to watch, describing it as “very, very heartbreaking.”
The upcoming season will continue the story of Lestat and Louis, and will introduce Lestat’s mother, Gabriella, played by Jennifer Ehle. According to showrunner Jones, Gabriella’s upbringing in Italy and her past experiences will significantly impact her character, bringing fresh conflict and excitement to the series. Jones described her as a formidable character, saying, “She adds something the show didn’t have after two years. She’s a monster and really embraces it.”

Jones hinted that the current season will delve into Louis’s emotional challenges, showing a more complex and painful side of the character that wasn’t fully developed in earlier seasons or the original book. He described this storyline as the strongest and most quickly developing of the season, calling it “crystal clear, really divine, and very, very heartbreaking.”
The upcoming season will heavily feature Lestat, and will have a wild, music-filled vibe reminiscent of a rock and roll tour – a departure from the more straightforward plots of previous seasons. As showrunner Rolin Jones put it, the season will be “a show about rock and roll… just this train wreck of a tour,” prioritizing rebellious energy and attitude.
I was so excited to see the first photos from Season 3 in Entertainment Weekly! They really showed Louis going through it – covered in blood, it looked intense! Jacob Anderson (who plays Louis) said we’re going to see a really emotional journey for his character, especially exploring his complicated relationship with Lestat. He couldn’t give away too much, but it sounds like Louis will be grappling with who he is and dealing with a lot of inner pain. I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds!
I’m so excited for Season 3 of The Vampire Lestat! From what I’ve heard, they’re really building out the world Anne Rice created, and it sounds like they’re committed to staying true to her stories. But they’re also not afraid to take some risks and make things even more exciting and dramatic, which I think is a great approach. It’s going to be amazing to see how they bring her vision to life while adding their own creative touches.
As Louis becomes more central to the story this season, viewers can anticipate a more complex and emotionally resonant arc, with significant obstacles that will push his relationship with Lestat to its limits. The new season promises to be a visually stunning and deeply moving continuation of the series.
