Jennifer Lawrence Says She Jumped Straight Into a Nude Scene on Day One of Filming ‘Die My Love’

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress revealed that the idea for her new film, Die My Love, came about in a surprising manner.

Before filming began, director Lynne Ramsay had Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson take improvisational dance classes as a way to build a connection and prepare for their emotionally challenging scenes together.

Lawrence described the first day of filming as unexpectedly intense. The initial scene required both actors to be completely nude and engage in a physical struggle with each other.

Jennifer Lawrence described the first day of filming as unexpectedly intense: a nude fight scene. She added that getting it over with right away actually relieved some pressure.

The comment caused everyone at the table to laugh. Amanda Seyfried playfully explained that seeing what her co-star looks like beforehand avoids any potential discomfort later on. As she put it, “If you’ve seen everything, there are no surprises!”

Cynthia Erivo described a much different way she connected with her co-star, sharing that they bonded over conversations at home and shared snacks – there was no nudity involved. When asked directly if anyone had been naked, Erivo plainly stated, “Nobody was naked.”

Lynne Ramsay, a director known for her powerful and moving films, helms “Die My Love.” Based on Ariana Harwicz’s novel, the movie stars Jennifer Lawrence as a mother battling significant mental health challenges while living in rural Montana. Robert Pattinson plays her husband, and the supporting cast includes LaKeith Stanfield, Nick Nolte, and Sissy Spacek.

The film debuted at the Cannes Film Festival in May, vying for the top prize, the Palme d’Or. Reviews were generally favorable, with particular praise directed at the acting of Lawrence and the direction by Ramsay. Lawrence’s performance was also recognized with a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Drama. Released in U.S. cinemas by Mubi in November, the film went on to become Ramsay’s most commercially successful movie to date, according to industry sources.

Beginning a movie with a highly emotional scene is risky, but it demonstrates a strong working relationship between the actors and director, especially when tackling challenging subjects. Though it won’t appeal to all viewers, Jennifer Lawrence’s commitment illustrates the lengths actors will go to in order to bring a story to life.
