In the new documentary “Corey Feldman vs. The World,” Corey Feldman alleges that his friend and former co-star, the late Corey Haim, sexually abused him during the filming of their 1987 movie, “The Lost Boys.”
The documentary, directed by Marcie Hume, also looks at Feldman’s early life as a child actor and the difficulties he experienced growing up in Hollywood.
Corey Feldman and Corey Haim were popular teen actors in the 1980s, known for movies like “The Lost Boys,” “License to Drive,” and “Dream a Little Dream.” Sadly, Corey Haim passed away in 2010 at the age of 38.
In the documentary, Feldman remembers an incident while filming “The Lost Boys.” He recounts that Corey Haim suggested they “mess around,” and Feldman asked him to explain what he meant.
Feldman alleges Haim then pressured him, suggesting that compromising behavior was common in the industry, stating, “That’s just what people in this business do – they have sexual encounters with each other.”
Haim reportedly mentioned that Charlie Sheen had given him the okay, but Sheen has strongly denied this. He told Variety that the accusations are completely false and never happened.
Feldman described feeling powerless as a child, even though he understood what Corey Haim was doing. In the film, he explains, “When someone is sexually abusing you and you’re a scared kid, you do anything to make it stop. That’s what happened – Corey Haim was molesting me.”
Feldman has spoken out about s abuse before. In 2017, he started a fundraising effort called the “Truth Campaign” to create a documentary about abuse within the Hollywood industry. This led to the 2020 film, “My Truth: The Rape of Two Coreys,” which detailed the abuse Feldman and Haim suffered as children. However, the documentary didn’t address allegations that Haim also abused Feldman.
According to Hume, the new documentary initially focused on Feldman’s return to music and his band, which was comprised entirely of women and called “Corey’s Angels.” Hume explained to Variety that “Corey wanted to share his story.”
The documentary also reveals a troubling side to Feldman’s life, detailing instances of alleged abuse, claims that he exerted excessive control over his bandmates – including what they ate, wore, and even when they showered – and accusations that he didn’t pay them for their work. One former band member went so far as to describe the situation as a blatant cult.
Hume points out that the film doesn’t tell the whole story of Feldman’s life. Feldman herself admits she didn’t try to, explaining, “I definitely captured a moment in time, but I don’t feel like I got the entire, complete picture.”
