For months, there have been online rumors linking Sofia González to the role of Wonder Woman in James Gunn’s DC Universe. Every time her name becomes popular online, the speculation starts up again.

People believe she’d be a good fit for the part because she’s captivating on screen, has a strong physical presence, and is a natural star.

The Uncertain Future Of Wonder Woman In The DCU

A new Wonder Woman movie is known to be in development, though its status remains unclear.

Initially, the project was said to be moving quickly, but James Gunn later clarified that wasn’t quite accurate. The delay seems to be connected to the current sale of Warner Bros. Discovery.

The planned Paradise Lost series from Gunn, intended to delve into the world of Themyscira, appears to have stalled, as there haven’t been any significant announcements about it recently.

WBD Sale And DC Studios Leadership

After Netflix secured the rights to content from Warner Bros. Discovery, James Gunn and Peter Safran, the co-heads of DC Studios, both had their contracts extended by six months.

That schedule matches up nicely with the expected closing date of the sale, as long as regulators approve it.

Okay, so if James Gunn stays on as DC’s co-CEO, things might actually start happening with the new Wonder Woman movie! There’s a chance Eiza González is still being considered for the role, which I’d be really excited about.

Currently, the ‘Boss The Scent’ campaign features a pairing of DC’s new Superman with an actress many fans would love to see as Wonder Woman. It’s unclear if this combination will be explored further within the main DC Universe.
