As expected, it looks like SpaceGodzilla is officially joining the MonsterVerse.
An updated listing on the Writers Guild of America website confirms that the upcoming movie Godzilla X Kong: Supernova (formerly known as “Zeus”) will feature SpaceGodzilla, a famous monster from Toho’s Godzilla series. This confirms long-held speculation about the character’s appearance in the film.
David Callaham, who has worked on films like Shang-Chi and Wonder Woman 1984, wrote the screenplay along with Michael Lloyd Green. Callaham also developed the story.
The project, featuring the characters Godzilla and Space Godzilla originally created by Toho Co., Ltd., was officially confirmed on November 12, 2025.
Okay, so all the rumors were true! Matthew Modine and Alycia Debnam-Carey had been dropping hints on social media – little teases that fans quickly figured out were about SpaceGodzilla showing up. It was fun watching everyone try to decode their posts, and now it looks like they were right all along!

What This Means for Godzilla: Supernova
For years, fans have guessed that ‘Supernova’ hints at a dangerous enemy from outer space, and SpaceGodzilla’s backstory – created when Godzilla’s DNA was changed by space radiation – seems to confirm that idea.
The codename “Zeus” hinted at a supremely powerful villain, and with SpaceGodzilla now confirmed, that initial idea seems spot-on.
Now that funding is secured, anticipation for Supernova will likely increase as we get closer to 2026.
Release Info
