The upcoming live-action Assassin’s Creed series on Netflix will feature a non-binary actor in the main role, marking a first for the show as it prepares for production.
Lola Petticrew is joining Toby Wallace in the upcoming series, according to Deadline. Filming is scheduled to start in Italy in 2026.
Few details are known about Petticrew’s character, or the specific time period the show will be set in. While the series is drawing inspiration from the Assassin’s Creed video games, it won’t be a direct adaptation of any particular game’s story. Filming and the story itself will both take place in Italy.
Louisa Petticrew is widely recognized for her role as Dolours Price in the award-winning series Say Nothing, which examines the conflict in Northern Ireland during the 1970s and 80s. She’s also currently filming a new British movie called I See Buildings Fall Like Lightning, as reported by Deadline.
Back in October 2020, Netflix revealed plans for several Assassin’s Creed projects: a live-action show, an animated series, and an anime. The live-action series is being made by Ubisoft Film & Television.
Originally, Jeb Stuart was going to write the series, with Jason Altman and Danielle Kreinik overseeing it as executive producers. However, Collider reported in January 2023 that Stuart had left the project. Netflix and Ubisoft later announced Roberto Patino and David Wiener as the new producers in July, and by December, Wallace and Petticrew had joined the cast.
