The final trailer is out for Paul Feig’s new thriller, The Housemaid, offering a preview of the disturbing secrets lurking beneath the surface of an affluent family’s seemingly ideal existence.
I’m really excited about this new psychological thriller! It stars Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried, and it’s based on a popular book from 2022 with the same title. I heard it’s coming out in the US and Canada on December 19th, and I’ve already marked my calendar!
I recently watched a film about Millie Calloway, a young woman with a difficult history, and I was immediately hooked. Sydney Sweeney plays her brilliantly as she takes a job as a live-in maid for the wealthy Winchester family. Initially, everything appears idyllic, but it doesn’t take long for Millie – and the audience – to realize there’s something seriously unsettling lurking beneath the surface of this seemingly perfect household. It quickly becomes clear the Winchesters are hiding some dangerous secrets.
Amanda Seyfried stars as Nina Winchester, the mother of the family, and Brandon Sklenar plays her husband, Andrew. Michele Morrone appears as Enzo, who works on the grounds, and Elizabeth Perkins plays Andrew’s mother, Evelyn. Indiana Elle plays their daughter, Cecelia, and the film also features Mark Grossman, Hannah Cruz, Megan Ferguson, and Ellen Tamaki.

Filming for the movie happened in New Jersey between January and March. Paul Feig directed the film, and Rebecca Sonnenshine wrote the screenplay based on the novel by Freida McFadden. Paul Feig, Todd Lieberman, and Laura Fischer produced the movie for Hidden Pictures. Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried, along with McFadden and Alex Young, also served as executive producers. Theodore Shapiro created the film’s music, continuing his long-standing working relationship with Feig – this was their eighth project together.
The final trailer is out, and it highlights the thrilling suspense of the movie. It shows Millie adjusting to her job and gradually discovering the dark secrets hidden within the Winchester family’s home.
The trailer showcases Anya Taylor-Joy’s powerful portrayal of a conflicted housemaid and suggests tense clashes with Amanda Seyfried’s character. It also gives a glimpse of the story’s unsettling mood and mind-bending turns.
As a thriller fan, I’m really excited about The Housemaid. It feels like a big step for Sydney Sweeney, especially after the year she’s had. And Amanda Seyfried? She’s fantastic – she can do anything, and I’m getting a seriously creepy vibe from her role as Nina Winchester. Honestly, with Feig directing and Shapiro doing the music, plus this talented cast, I have a feeling this one’s going to be good!
