Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey IMAX Prologue Leaks Online, Reveals Trojan Horse Battle

Early footage from Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, The Odyssey, has appeared online, offering fans a first glimpse of the movie’s special IMAX opening sequence.

A six-minute preview has been shown before IMAX 70mm movie screenings, but unofficial, lower-quality versions are now appearing online despite not being officially released.

The leaked preview suggests Nolan’s adaptation may be his most expansive film to date.

Trojan Horse Sequence Takes Center Stage

The story begins with the tale of the Trojan Horse, which is more closely linked to the myths surrounding Odysseus than to the main events of Homer’s Odyssey.

The scene begins with Menelaus, played by Jon Bernthal, questioning Tom Holland’s character, Telemachus, about the famous story of the Trojan Horse. He asks if Telemachus knows the story from someone who was actually there.

That scene immediately shows Matt Damon as Odysseus and his soldiers concealed inside the giant wooden horse being pulled into the city of Troy.

It was terrifying to watch! The Trojan soldiers were going wild with celebration, just hacking away at the wooden horse with their swords. Honestly, they were so close to hitting the Greeks hidden inside, it was a miracle anyone survived! It was a really intense scene.

When night came, Odysseus took action. He climbed down from the Trojan Horse and quickly, quietly killed a guard, which sparked immediate confusion and fighting.

The fighting intensifies into a massive battle as Greek soldiers struggle to break open Troy’s gates. Odysseus and Menelaus fight fiercely to defend the opening with their bows and swords. Once the gates are finally forced open, the full Greek army pours into the city, completely changing the course of the battle.

Nolan Blends Spectacle With Precision

Even though it was leaked early, the video still clearly shows Nolan’s trademark style of quickly switching between close-up scenes focused on characters and big, impressive action sequences.

The stressful atmosphere of the siege is connected to the slow, deliberate movement of Troy’s gate mechanisms, a visual element that director Nolan emphasizes throughout the opening scenes.

Brief moments towards the film’s conclusion suggest a larger, epic story, featuring intense battles, destroyed sculptures, and a quick look at the mythical giant, Polyphemus.

The video quality makes it hard to see the creature clearly, but its appearance hints that Nolan is prioritizing real, physical effects instead of relying heavily on computer-generated imagery.

The leaked footage heavily features Ludwig Göransson’s music, which builds suspense as the conflict escalates towards a major war.

The preview doesn’t feature several key actors like Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Zendaya, and Robert Pattinson, suggesting the story will primarily center on Odysseus and the events surrounding the Trojan War.
