Marvel Studios has announced when we can expect Black Panther 3. Even though Marvel is still wrapping up its current series of movies and shows (Phase 6), they’ve already begun developing projects for the future.
Director Ryan Coogler recently told the New York Times about his plans for the future, including the next Black Panther movie, which is currently scheduled for release in 2028.
After finishing the Marvel film, Coogler shared his vision for the future: a peaceful scene of a green meadow with the characteristic fog of the Bay Area at dawn. He described it as a feeling of vast possibilities and a fresh start.
He shared his enthusiasm for the project, saying, “I’m really excited about that movie!” The third film is planned for 2028, and will be released after The Multiverse Saga finishes.
Letitia Wright, known for her role as Shuri and set to become the new Black Panther, will be in the upcoming movie Avengers: Secret Wars. However, in a conversation with Liam Crowley, she confessed she doesn’t know what’s planned for the next Black Panther film.
A third Black Panther film has been in the planning stages for years. Discussions between director Ryan Coogler and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige about a potential sequel began in November 2022. By January 2023, actress Letitia Wright indicated that the cast and Coogler needed some time to rest and prepare before starting work on the next movie.
In November 2024, director Ryan Coogler began discussing a role with Denzel Washington for his upcoming film. The following month, Marvel producer Nate Moore announced he’d be leaving the studio in March 2025 to pursue other projects, but intended to return later to help produce the third Black Panther movie. Coogler officially confirmed Washington’s involvement in June, and in November revealed that Black Panther 3 would be his next project, with development now officially started.
