Daisy Ridley Reacts to Scrapped Ben Solo Movie – But the Revival Still Shouldn’t Happen

Daisy Ridley has responded to the strong fan reaction to the canceled Hunt for Ben Solo project. While she appreciates their passion, her comments don’t alter the reasons why the movie is best left unmade.

Speaking with IGN, Ridley explained she’d heard early whispers about the project:

I had heard some whispers about it from friends working on the project, but I was still shocked when the official story came out. The biggest surprise was that Adam Driver was the one who revealed it – it was a huge moment!

Ridley then praised the positivity around the #TheHuntForBenSolo fan campaign:

Ridley expressed her joy at the widespread positive response online. She was thrilled to see so many people come together to support something and felt it was wonderful that fans genuinely cared about the character and wanted to make it happen. She simply appreciates the collective enthusiasm.

She continued:

As a lifelong movie fan, one of the things I really cherish is seeing people from all walks of life come together through a shared passion. It genuinely warms my heart that the ‘Star Wars’ fanbase is so diverse – a beautiful mix of perspectives and people. Especially in today’s crazy world, it’s just lovely to see everyone united by something they love. Honestly, I was thrilled with how everything unfolded, and it brought a real sense of joy.

Naomi Ridley seems genuinely happy and has always valued Star Wars fans, and she continues to support the community. However, that doesn’t change the main issue: a movie focused solely on Ben Solo would still be a mistake.

Why Ridley’s Positivity Doesn’t Change the Reality

As a fan, I really feel like Kylo Ren’s arc is complete. Ben Solo finally found redemption and sacrificed himself, and honestly, taking that away would ruin the only truly satisfying emotional moment the sequels gave us. It would just undo all that growth and meaning.

Star Wars already tested viewers’ acceptance by bringing back Palpatine and extending the stories of characters who seemed to have finished their arcs. Reviving Ben Solo would risk turning the franchise into a joke.

The issue isn’t a lack of excitement from fans—it’s about making the story make sense. It’s hard to revive Star Wars with a character connected to a trilogy that divided fans, particularly since The Last Jedi already changed the Skywalker story by portraying Luke as someone willing to murder Kylo Ren.

By the time The Rise of Skywalker came out, it was too late to save the story. Bringing Ben Solo back wouldn’t have helped and would have just repeated the same problems.

Ridley is happy to see fans enjoying something together, but she still feels the movie’s plot is confusing. She believes keeping Kylo Ren dead was the right choice to preserve the story’s integrity.
