Paramount+ is attracting a lot more viewers this week thanks to a combination of new hit movies, holiday classics, and exciting action comedies. Tom Cruise remains incredibly popular, with several of his films currently trending. Alongside these favorites, new movies released in 2025 are also becoming popular on the streaming service. Viewers are especially enjoying fast-paced thrillers and updated versions of familiar comedies, as well as heartwarming holiday stories with a unique spin.
’21 Jump Street’ (2012)

Police officers Schmidt and Jenko, known for not quite reaching their potential, go undercover as high school students. Their mission: to find the source of a new and dangerous drug. As they try to fit in and investigate, their friendship is challenged by the complexities of teenage life. Ultimately, they bust the drug dealers during a wild confrontation at the prom, proving themselves as capable officers.
‘Top Gun: Maverick’ (2022)

Pete Mitchell, a highly skilled Navy pilot with over three decades of experience, is now a daring test pilot. He returns to TOP GUN to train a new group of exceptional pilots for an incredibly challenging mission – one unlike any flown before. There, he faces a difficult situation when he meets Lieutenant Bradley Bradshaw, the son of a friend he lost. This mission will require everything from the pilots selected, potentially demanding the ultimate sacrifice.
‘Dear Santa’ (2024)

A little boy who has trouble with reading and spelling mistakenly sends his Christmas wish list to Satan instead of Santa, and surprisingly, the devil actually shows up! Played by Jack Black, the devil offers to grant the boy three wishes, but there’s a dark twist – his soul is the price. What follows is a hilarious and chaotic holiday season as the boy and his family try to cope with the mischievous consequences of the accidental address and save Christmas from a truly devilish interference. It’s a funny mix of holiday cheer and supernatural mayhem.
‘Guns Up’ (2025)

In this action-comedy, Kevin James plays a former police officer who now works for the mob, but desperately wants to quit and protect his family. After one last job goes awry, he and his wife are forced to run for their lives, pursued by his dangerous former colleagues. The movie follows their perilous night as he uses his unique abilities to keep his family safe, showcasing how far a father will go to ensure their survival.
‘The Naked Gun’ (2025)

I’m so excited to see Liam Neeson take on the role of Frank Drebin Jr.! It’s a reboot of the hilarious Police Squad series, and he’s tasked with saving the world, just like his famous father. From what I’ve heard, it’s packed with the same slapstick comedy, crazy visual gags, and dry wit that made the original so special. He’s trying to solve a big conspiracy, but of course, he leaves a trail of accidental chaos everywhere he goes – it sounds absolutely perfect!
‘Man with No Past’ (2025)

A man finds himself in a strange city, completely unable to remember who he is or how he got there. He soon learns he’s a skilled fighter and someone dangerous is after him. Starring Jon Voight and Adam Woodward, this action thriller follows his journey to uncover a hidden conspiracy linked to his forgotten past. As he fights for answers, he discovers the truth about why his memory was wiped and who is trying to stop him.
‘Step Brothers’ (2008)

When two forty-something men, Brennan and Dale, discover their single parents are getting married, they unexpectedly become roommates. At first, they can’t stand each other, leading to silly arguments and destructive behavior that disrupts the whole family. Their constant fighting puts everyone on edge, but eventually, they realize they have a lot in common – namely, they’re both acting like kids. The movie follows their funny path toward growing up a little and learning to respect each other.
‘Fatman’ (2020)

Santa Claus, known as Chris Cringle, is facing tough times as fewer people believe in the magic of the holidays. To save Christmas, he reluctantly teams up with the U.S. military, all while dealing with a troublesome, wealthy child who goes to extreme lengths – hiring a hitman – to try and eliminate him. Mel Gibson powerfully portrays a Santa who’s lost his cheer, battling the cynicism and violence of the modern world. The film builds to a thrilling showdown between Santa and the assassin sent to kill him.
‘American Made’ (2017)

This movie is based on the real life of Barry Seal, a pilot for TWA who was asked by the CIA to spy on communist activity in Central America. He quickly became involved in a massive, secret CIA operation that unexpectedly helped create the Medellin Cartel. The film shows how Barry balanced his dangerous life as a drug smuggler with his work as a government informant, all while trying to stay out of jail. It’s a story about the crazy and risky situations he found himself in during the 1980s.
‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ (2025)

Ethan Hunt and his team at the IMF face their most perilous challenge yet: stopping a frightening new weapon that could destroy the world. As the stakes climb and enemies from Hunt’s past reappear, a desperate, worldwide chase begins. Hunt must decide if completing the mission is more important than protecting the people he loves. This latest film is a crucial and thrilling addition to the ongoing action series.
