Disney+ Is Developing a New Live-Action ‘Power Rangers’ Series, Creators Confirm

For months, there’s been talk of a new live-action Power Rangers show, and now the team that brought us Percy Jackson and the Olympians has officially confirmed it’s happening.

During the premiere of Percy Jackson Season 2, showrunners Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz spoke with MovieWeb and clarified what everyone had been wondering.

The second season of Percy Jackson will premiere on Disney+ on December 10th. While discussing the new season with MovieWeb, creators Jonathan Steinberg and Dan Shotz were asked about rumors that they were working on a Power Rangers reboot. Steinberg confirmed the reports, stating, “The rumor is true.”

Shotz was cautious about revealing specifics about the show’s plot or how it will relate to the original series. However, he and Steinberg are enthusiastic about adapting the story. As he put it, “I can’t answer those questions right now. All I can say is we really want to bring this story to life.”

Steinberg wouldn’t say if the new show will feature returning Power Rangers like Jason, Zack, Billy, Trini, and Kimberly, or if it will introduce a completely new team. However, he expressed his enthusiasm for the project, saying, “I can’t tell you, but I am very, very excited about that story.”

News connecting Steinberg and Shotz to the revival started circulating in March. These initial reports indicated they would be responsible for writing, running, and executive producing the new series.
