Vin Diesel, best known for the Fast & Furious films, is adding another project to his list. He’s going to star in and write a movie based on the classic toy Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, brought to life by Mattel Studios.
Vin Diesel is producing the film through his production company, One Race Films. He signed on to star in and produce the project back in April 2021. The movie is based on a popular tabletop boxing game, featuring iconic characters like Red Rocker and Blue Bomber.
Robbie Brenner, who leads Mattel Studios and oversees content, and is also a producer on the film, spoke highly of Vin Diesel’s involvement in the project.
Mattel Studios praised Vin as an incredibly talented storyteller, particularly highlighting his skill with action, emotional depth, and creating immersive worlds. They described his vision for a Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots adaptation as daring, character-driven, and cinematic—the type of story they actively seek to produce.
Vin Diesel shared, “I’m thrilled to help expand the world of Mattel with a toy I loved growing up. We’re bringing this classic to a new generation with a story that looks at competition, strength, and what it truly means to be powerful – showing that compassion is a key part of that.”
Samantha Vincent of One Race Films is also a producer on the project. Mattel Studios, with Darian Greenbaum and Andrew Scannell, will manage the film’s development. Diesel will handle production duties for One Race Films.
The upcoming Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots movie has the potential to successfully update a classic toy for today’s audiences. With Vin Diesel writing and starring, it’s likely to be filled with both exciting action and emotional depth.
