The trailer for 28 Years Later is unsettling and atmospheric, blending frightening moments with glimmers of hope. The story focuses on Dr. Kelson, a peculiar doctor who studied bones and appeared in the previous film, played by Ralph Fiennes. This movie continues the story begun in 28 Years Later (which is intended to be the second film in a trilogy). The last film ended with the adult Jimmy Crystal discovering young Spike living in the wilderness.
I’m so excited for the new movie! Here’s the official description of 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple that Sony Pictures released, alongside the trailer.
The story continues as Dr. Kelson enters a surprising new relationship with potentially global repercussions. Meanwhile, Spike’s meeting with Jimmy Crystal turns into a terrifying ordeal he can’t escape. In the dangerous world of The Bone Temple, the biggest threat isn’t the infected anymore – it’s the cruelty of those who are still alive.
Alex Garland wrote the screenplay again, but Nia DaCosta (known for directing Candyman and Hedda) is directing this time, with Danny Boyle as a producer. Chi Lewis-Parry returns as the beloved Alpha, Samson, and Erin Kellyman joins the cast. We’re excited about the trailer for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple and have high hopes for the film. It will be interesting to see how the story handles a potential cure, a theme also being explored in the popular series The Last of Us.
Will Kelson discover a cure for the infected in 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple? We won’t have to wait long to find out, as the movie arrives in theaters on January 16, 2026.
