‘Stranger Things’ 5 Shatters Netflix Viewership Records

The latest season of Stranger Things is here! Volume 1 of Season 5 premiered on Netflix the day before Thanksgiving, and fans have been eagerly awaiting its release for a long time. It’s delivering all the thrills and excitement everyone anticipated.

Following numerous delays and a large-scale marketing campaign, everyone was eager to see how well the release would perform. Now that Netflix has revealed the initial viewership figures, it’s clear the results are a major success.

Netflix reports that the latest season topped the charts as the most-watched TV show globally from November 24th to 30th. Viewers logged a total of 284.2 million hours, and the season was viewed 59.6 million times during its first week.

I’m not at all surprised to hear that the new season had the biggest premiere week ever for an English-language show on Netflix! It’s been everywhere – the promotion has been incredible. Plus, after the cliffhanger at the end of Season 4, so many of us have been eagerly counting down the days for the story to continue. It really feels like all that anticipation paid off!

Netflix announced the launch with an enthusiastic statement, noting that viewers were watching from all over the world. According to Netflix, “Stranger Things fans tuned into WSQK, The Squawk, listening to DJ Rockin’ Robin and the Hawkins crew as they continue battling Vecna to save the world.”

The latest season had the biggest premiere week ever for the service in English-language markets. It quickly became a top 10 hit in all 93 countries where data was collected, and reached the number one spot in 90 of those countries.

The creators of the show, the Duffer Brothers, were overjoyed by how well the first part of the new season was received. They expressed being amazed by the number of viewers and said the support exceeded all expectations. Having the show connect with fans for over ten years and seeing the fanbase continue to grow has been deeply satisfying for them, the cast, and the entire team who worked on it. They’re incredibly grateful and can’t wait to release the second part, promising even more to come!

Netflix highlighted that the series filled half of the worldwide Top 10 list this week. Every season of the show reappeared on the chart, proving viewers are consistently revisiting older episodes.

The first season was a huge hit, ranking third with almost nine million views in its first week. Overall, the show has been viewed over 1.2 billion times on Netflix across its first four seasons.

The story will continue soon for fans! The next three episodes of Season 5 will be available on Christmas Day, and the season finale will be released on New Year’s Eve at 5 p.m. Pacific Time. You can watch it on Netflix or at participating theaters.
