As a huge Elden Ring fan, I was already having a blast with all the content in the main game! But the Nightreign update really takes things to another level. There’s a ton to do right away, and the Forsaken Hollows DLC adds even more! You get two new characters to play as, two tough new bosses to fight, and a cool new event called Shifting Earth. If you’re wondering how to unlock all this awesome stuff, don’t worry, I’ve got the details for you!

How to start The Forsaken Hollows DLC in Elden Ring Nightreign

To start playing The Forsaken Hollows DLC, you first need to buy and download it from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, or Steam. If you already own the Elden Ring Nightreign Deluxe Edition, the DLC is included and you can download it for free.

Once you’ve installed the DLC, follow the steps below to unlock each bit of new content.

How to unlock the Scholar and Undertaker nightfarers

You can unlock the new characters, the Scholar and Undertaker, in Nightreign by first defeating the boss Tricephelos. Then, talk to the Iron Menial at Roundtable Hold – they’ll tell you about a message from the Small Jar Merchant, which starts the process of unlocking these characters.

How to unlock the Balancers boss expedition

To start the Balancers expedition—and fight Nightreign’s two new bosses—you first need to defeat at least two bosses (Tricephelos and any other one) and unlock the Scholar and Undertaker characters. Once you’ve done that, go to the chapel that appears behind the Small Jar Merchant to begin the expedition. Completing these steps will also activate a new event called The Great Hollows, part of the Shifting Earth series.

Now that you’ve unlocked the nightfarers and expeditions, you’re all set to explore everything included in The Forsaken Hollows DLC. Just be warned: defeating the Balancers will be a difficult fight!
