Quentin Tarantino Teases Exciting ‘Kill Bill’ Prequel with Unexpected Twists

Quentin Tarantino has hinted at potentially expanding the world of Kill Bill. At the premiere of his recent Fortnite short, Yuki’s Revenge, he mentioned he’s considered making a prequel that would tell the story of Bill’s past and the people who influenced him.

Tarantino has said this idea was initially included in the Kill Bill screenplay, but it was removed because of budget constraints and the film’s already extensive length – over four hours.

The Fortnite version of the story stayed true to the original plot, but swapped out the original characters for those from Fortnite and made it less violent.

Quentin Tarantino and Uma Thurman both used motion capture technology for the first time on this project. Thurman, who plays the Bride, found the experience relaxed and enjoyable, a welcome change from filming the original Kill Bill movies. She compared it to the easygoing atmosphere on the set of Pulp Fiction.

Tarantino clarified he doesn’t have plans to get into the video game industry broadly. He viewed this particular project as an opportunity to share a missing piece of the Kill Bill story.

He suggested he’s planning future projects that combine anime styles with digital effects, possibly even a movie featuring the Vega Brothers. He explained he wants to create a unique visual style, bridging the gap between his own work and Japanese animation to achieve effects that would be impossible to create practically. “I’m looking for a middle ground where I can do things I couldn’t physically film,” he said.

Quentin Tarantino has hinted at potentially revisiting the Kill Bill universe, but isn’t making any promises. He mentioned having ideas for a backstory focused on Bill, exploring the influences of his three mentors – Esteban Vihaio, Pai Mei, and Hattori Hanzo. However, he’s unsure if he’ll have the time or opportunity to make it happen.

Quentin Tarantino has often talked about making another Kill Bill movie. Years ago, he envisioned a sequel where Vernita Green’s daughter would seek revenge. He also explored the idea of creating animated films that would tell the backstories of both Bill and the Bride.

He’s talked for years about possibly adding to the story with more volumes, imagining storylines about revenge and introducing new characters – even including the Bride’s daughter, B.B. Although he’s said in the past that he was too tired to continue, he’s recently hinted that he’s interested in making a prequel about Bill’s life before the original story.
