Madonna Slams Trump for Skipping World AIDS Day: ‘Absurd, Unthinkable’

Madonna has publicly criticized President Trump for failing to formally acknowledge World AIDS Day in 2023.

The singer took to Instagram on Monday to acknowledge World AIDS Day and criticize the government for not officially recognizing it. She pointed out that this is the first time since 1988 the U.S. hasn’t participated in the annual observance.

Today marks World AIDS Day, a day recognized globally for the past forty years. As Madonna explained, millions of people have been affected by HIV. Many have lost loved ones – partners, parents, and children – to this devastating disease, which still has no cure.

Madonna, a longtime supporter of AIDS and HIV awareness, voiced her frustration that the government wasn’t recognizing World AIDS Day. She stated, “Donald Trump has announced that World AIDS Day should no longer be acknowledged.”

Telling federal agents not to acknowledge this day is one thing, but asking everyone else to ignore it completely is just unreasonable and frankly, unbelievable. It’s clear he hasn’t experienced the pain of losing a close friend to AIDS – of holding their hand and watching them die at such a young age.

Madonna shared her sadness over losing friends and loved ones to AIDS, acknowledging that many others have experienced similar loss. She emphasized that despite progress, there is still no cure and people continue to die from the disease. She vowed to continue honoring World AIDS Day, hoping others will join her in remembering those lost and supporting the fight against AIDS.
