Netflix officially started working on the project on September 25, 2024. This followed an arrest one week earlier involving Combs, who faced serious charges including racketeering and sex trafficking.

Following Netflix’s announcement of the series, director Alex Stapleton and 50 Cent released a statement emphasizing the show’s importance and complexity. They explained that it’s a decades-spanning story that goes beyond recent headlines and focuses on giving a platform to those who haven’t been heard.
