The latest episode of South Park satirized Pete Hegseth, a figure from the Trump administration. This continues the show’s trend of focusing on political figures in its current season.
The Thanksgiving episode, “Turkey Trot,” introduces Pete Hegseth as a new character this season. In the episode, South Park’s version of Donald Trump tasks Hegseth with freeing Peter Thiel from jail. However, instead of behaving like a serious official, Hegseth is portrayed as someone constantly on their phone, documenting everything as if he were a social media influencer.
At one point, Trump became frustrated and told the person, “Stop just creating content and actually take action.”
As all of this unfolds, the town of South Park gets ready for a 5k race sponsored by Saudi Arabia. However, runners are told they can’t say anything bad about the Saudi royal family. Meanwhile, Cartman attempts to assemble a top-performing team and recruits Token to run, jokingly calling himself a “racing scientist” and believing Token will help them win.
When Hegseth arrives in town, he mistakenly believes a race is a violent protest and immediately begins broadcasting it live. The situation becomes even more bizarre with the arrival of Homeland Security director Kristi Noem, who, in a chaotic and unexpected moment reminiscent of a personal story she once shared, ends up engaging in an inappropriate act with a dog. Ultimately, Hegseth’s assignment fails, and he finds himself in jail alongside Thiel.
This season of South Park has been getting a lot of attention for its sharp criticism of the current government. The show isn’t afraid to tackle controversial topics, and this latest episode continues that trend by taking aim at another public figure.
