The animated series The Mighty Nein, based on the popular Critical Role web series, has arrived on Prime Video, and it doesn’t disappoint! The show is filled with amazing magic, beautiful locations, witty humor, and plenty of hidden references for fans. However, The Mighty Nein is a bit more serious and gritty than The Legend of Vox Machina. The first three episodes took viewers on a rollercoaster of emotions, featuring hardship, disaster, banishment, sickness, and a shocking end to Mollymauk Tealeaf’s time with the circus. Now, the main characters have finally crossed paths, though they’re not exactly thrilled about it. We have an exclusive sneak peek at episode four, where most of the heroes meet for the first time – and it’s a chaotic, funny, and dark encounter, just as you’d expect. We’re already eager to see what happens next! Check out our exclusive clip below.
Before this clip from The Mighty Nein, we’d mostly seen the characters paired up. We loved seeing Jester and Fjord meet and quickly connect, and Caleb and Nott the Brave were incredibly endearing as they cautiously started a relationship—all while causing plenty of mischief! Beau was focused on her assignment, but Nott cleverly outsmarted her. And Mollymauk was happily enjoying life with his circus friends… until pretty much everyone else disrupted things. Oops!
One thing that defines Critical Role is its willingness to explore the difficult consequences of events. In a sneak peek from episode four of The Mighty Nein, we find the group locked in jail after the chaos of the previous episodes, and the scene perfectly captures the campaign’s blend of humor and emotional depth.

Fjord is getting a lot of criticism and isn’t taken seriously as a captain, with only Jester believing in him. It’s a bit disappointing, considering he’s actually quite imposing! Nott and Beau surprisingly agree on this, though they’ll probably start fighting again soon. The situation quickly shifts from silly – like Nott actually biting Fjord’s arm – to deeply upsetting. Taliesin Jaffe’s powerful performance instantly transforms the usually upbeat Mollymauk into someone filled with despair, as he blames the others for all he’s lost.
In a powerful and heartbreaking moment, Mollymauk confronts Caleb, Nott, Beau, Jester, and Fjord, telling them he’s lost everything – his carnival, his friends, and the people who cared about him. He blames them for his loss, delivering the news in a raw voice filled with anger and grief. And, unfortunately, his accusation is justified.

Okay, things definitely got off to a rocky start for these six, but honestly, I’m just thrilled to finally see them all together in The Mighty Nein! I’m already completely hooked and wondering where they’ll go from here. Will someone offer an apology? Or will they just dive headfirst into some crazy escape plan and hope for forgiveness later? I guess we’ll have to wait for episode four to find out! I’m already planning on rewatching this clip a million times – there’s just so much to unpack. Did anyone else notice Jester’s hilarious ‘Boob’ mugshot doodle on the wall? And Molly’s exhausted little ‘please’ just kills me every time. I’m obsessed!

You can now watch The Mighty Nein on Prime Video! The first three episodes are available now, and new episodes come out every Wednesday.
