Watch Michael B. Jordan Explain MY HERO ACADEMIA to Other Actors

Michael B. Jordan is continuing his streak of success! It seems like he always has a fantastic year – he’s wealthy, famous, and incredibly good-looking. In 2025, he collaborated with director Ryan Coogler again, creating another hit movie called Sinners. He also received a well-deserved American Cinematheque Award recognizing his impressive career. We enjoy his performances, especially in films like Black Panther, but what many fans love most is that he’s relatable. He’s openly a huge fan of anime, and recently, he even explained the series My Hero Academia to some fellow actors in a video.

So, I was watching this Vanity Fair video with Jordan, Austin Butler, and Paul Mescal, and they were reacting to viral videos. Jordan decided to show a clip from My Hero Academia season seven – a really intense moment where it looks like Bakugo bites the dust fighting Shigaraki and the League of Villains. Paul seemed interested, but a little lost, while Austin Butler immediately called out that it was a major spoiler for anyone who hasn’t seen the show! Honestly, watching those two – Butler and Jordan – react together really gave me a taste of the energy we’re going to get in the new Miami Vice remake. They clearly have great chemistry!

Michael B. Jordan chuckled, acknowledging that Austin had a point. He then gave a broad overview of the anime, highlighting its central ideas of friendship and self-sacrifice.

Anime plays a big role in Michael B. Jordan’s life, both personally and in his work. He actually used the fighting style from the anime Hajime no Ippo as inspiration for the fight scenes in Creed 3. He’s also shared that he loves Tokyo, in part because of its anime culture. Anyone would enjoy spending time with him to discuss and watch anime!
