Okay, so this is a bit of a bummer for fans of Invincible: Aaron Paul, who absolutely killed it as the voice of Powerplex, won’t be back for Season 4. He’s best known, of course, for his incredible work in Breaking Bad, and while he brought a ton to the animated series, it looks like we’ll have to see who steps into the role next. It’s a change, that’s for sure!
I was listening to the “Kinda Funny Gamescast” recently, and the actor dropped some interesting news during their interview while they were talking about the game Dispatch. It was a bit of a surprise, honestly!
Paul shared that although he enjoys the show and appreciates the people who make it, playing the character Powerplex was difficult for him emotionally.
He explained that although he was asked to return for another season – and he really enjoys the show as a fan – the experience was too emotionally draining. He jokingly referred to it as a ‘Powerplex’ situation.
Paul explained that playing the character was emotionally challenging, requiring him to deeply connect with the character’s inner struggles. He admitted it became uncomfortable, saying, ‘Powerplex is really going through a lot, and I try to fully embody that. But honestly, it was a difficult place to be, and I didn’t want to continue.’
Even though Paul is leaving the show, the storyline involving Powerplex will continue. Readers of the Invincible comic books anticipate the villain’s return, but they haven’t yet revealed who will voice the character.

The fourth season will pick up where Mark Grayson’s story left off, and familiar faces like Steven Yuen, J.K. Simmons, Sandra Oh, and Gillian Jacobs will be back.
Paul explained that he’s leaving the show on good terms, praising the entire team. He said, “They’re all fantastic, but the experience was ultimately too difficult for me to continue with.”
It’ll be fascinating to see how the show brings Powerplex back and what fans think of the new voice actor. Many people appreciated Aaron Paul’s honest discussion about the emotional challenges of voice acting, especially when playing demanding characters.
