Noah Centineo is being considered for the lead role in Legendary’s upcoming live-action Gundam movie. This could mark another collaboration between Centineo and the studio, following his previous work on the Street Fighter film.
I just got a sneak peek at a new project in the works, and it’s looking promising. It stars Sydney Sweeney, and it’s being directed by Jim Mickle – you might know him from the charmingly dark Netflix series Sweet Tooth. Interestingly, he also penned the script for the upcoming Gundam project, so he’s clearly comfortable jumping between genres. No title yet, but I’m definitely keeping an eye on this one.
Legendary hasn’t officially announced whether Noah Centineo will be cast. They previously talked to Drew Starkey from Outer Banks for the role, but those discussions didn’t lead to an agreement. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sydney Sweeney’s character is a key part of the story, and she’s involved in helping to choose her co-stars.
The movie centers on a love story between the character played by Sweeney and the main male actor. They’re from enemy sides in a war between planets, similar to the classic tale of Romeo and Juliet.
Noah Centineo first gained recognition for his role in the popular Netflix movies To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and their sequels. More recently, he appeared as Atom Smasher in Black Adam and starred in the war film Warfare. He’s currently getting ready to film a new Rambo prequel and will be seen in Street Fighter, which is scheduled to be released by Paramount on October 16, 2026.
Adding Centineo to the Gundam project could be a smart decision for Legendary, as he’s becoming increasingly popular and has a dedicated following.
