Here Are the Best Movies to Stream this Weekend on Paramount+, Including ‘Wakefield’

Okay, so I’m planning a movie night and checking out what’s new on Paramount+. This week, they’ve got a really good selection – everything from brand new releases to movies that were popular recently, and of course, some all-time favorites. I’ve picked out ten films that look great, starting with the newest stuff and then moving onto those reliable titles you can always count on. Seriously, there’s something for every mood – just pick what you’re feeling and hit play!

‘The Naked Gun’ (2025)

The classic Police Squad! universe is back with a new movie starring Liam Neeson as Frank Drebin Jr. He’s determined to save his police unit from being closed and solve a major crime. The film also features Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, Kevin Durand, and Danny Huston. Directed by Akiva Schaffer, who also co-wrote the script, and produced by Fuzzy Door, it’s currently a big hit on Paramount Pictures, drawing a lot of viewers this week.

‘Vicious’ (2025)

In Bryan Bertino’s horror film, Polly receives a chilling warning from a stranger: she’ll face a terrifying night unless she fulfills the requests of a mysterious box. This leads to a series of strange and unsettling events. Starring Dakota Fanning, the movie first screened at Fantastic Fest before becoming available on Paramount+ in October 2025, where it quickly became one of the platform’s most popular titles.

‘Regretting You’ (2025)

Based on Colleen Hoover’s popular novel, this new movie arrives on Paramount+ and tells the story of a mother and daughter struggling with past trauma and hidden truths. Allison Williams and Mckenna Grace play Morgan and Clara Grant, alongside Dave Franco and Mason Thames. Josh Boone directed the film, written by Susan McMartin. It’s a key offering for Paramount+ this October and will continue to be available for streaming.

‘Top Gun: Maverick’ (2022)

Okay, so I finally saw Top Gun: Maverick, and wow! Tom Cruise is back as Maverick, and this time he’s the instructor, training a new group of pilots for a seriously tough mission that actually connects back to the first Top Gun movie. What blew me away was how much of the aerial footage was real – they used actual fighter jets and built special camera rigs to capture it all. It was a huge hit for Paramount and Skydance, becoming one of their biggest successes and getting a ton of awards attention. And now, it’s all over Paramount+, so everyone’s checking it out again – totally deserved!

‘Rocketman’ (2019)

I just finished watching this amazing movie about Elton John’s life! It follows him from his early days, showing how he met Bernie Taupin and how they started writing songs together, all the way to becoming a huge star. Taron Egerton does a fantastic job playing Elton, and Jamie Bell, Richard Madden, and Bryce Dallas Howard are all great in it too. It was produced by a really good team and it’s now available on Paramount+ – I saw it was one of their new releases this week.

‘Wakefield’ (2017)

Robin Swicord’s new film centers on a New York lawyer who escapes to his attic garage to observe his family and rethink his life. Starring Bryan Cranston and Jennifer Garner, along with Jason O’Mara and Beverly D’Angelo, the movie is based on a short story by E. L. Doctorow and debuted at the Telluride Film Festival. You can start streaming it on Paramount+ this Friday.

‘Step Brothers’ (2008)

In the comedy film, Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly play Brennan and Dale, two grown men who are still maturing and end up as roommates when their parents get married. Adam McKay directed the movie, which also features Richard Jenkins, Mary Steenburgen, Adam Scott, and Kathryn Hahn. The film did well in theaters and became even more popular when people started watching it at home and streaming it. It’s currently one of the most-watched comedies on the streaming service.

‘Grown Ups’ (2010)

The movie brings back Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, and Rob Schneider as former teammates who reconnect with their families for a weekend at the lake. Directed by Dennis Dugan and made by Happy Madison Productions, it was a big hit in theaters and led to a follow-up film with most of the original cast. Currently, it’s performing very well on Paramount+.

‘Grown Ups 2’ (2013)

The new movie brings the group back to their hometown for more funny adventures, surprise appearances, and family drama. Dennis Dugan directs again, and the original cast returns alongside some familiar guest stars. Although critics didn’t love it, the film was a big success in theaters and is now available to stream on Paramount+.

‘Shooter’ (2007)

Mark Wahlberg stars as Bob Lee Swagger, a skilled Marine sniper who’s brought back into action to stop an assassination, but ends up being falsely accused of the crime. The movie, based on Stephen Hunter’s novel ‘Point of Impact,’ is a suspenseful thriller that focuses on the details of ballistics and a complex conspiracy. Produced by di Bonaventura Pictures and distributed by Paramount, it combines exciting action sequences with a mystery about uncovering corruption. It’s been a popular choice for viewers on Paramount+.
