Where Winds Meet is a large-scale, free-to-play RPG set in an open world. It combines elements of historical fiction, martial arts, and allows players to shape the story through their decisions. The game world reacts to everything you do, giving you a lot of freedom and control.
This game is packed with secrets, challenges, and combat, and it doesn’t always give you clear instructions. While some players enjoy figuring things out on their own, it can be tricky. Here’s a guide to help you get started and make the most of your adventure.
How To Unlock The Best Healing

Evercare Clinic, found in western Qinghe, offers treatment for all sorts of injuries and illnesses, from poisonings to fractures. You can also visit to increase how much medicine you can carry.
Healing is limited in Where Winds Meet, especially when you first start playing. You won’t have access to endless health recovery. That’s why finding and unlocking the clinic as quickly as possible is crucial for survival. Since the game focuses on exploration, feel free to temporarily pause your quests and search for a healer whenever you need one.
Pay Attention To Breakthroughs
Gaining levels in Where Winds Meet works differently than in many other RPGs. Instead of just earning experience points, you progress by achieving breakthroughs – paying close attention to these is key.
Before you can level up, you need to meet certain requirements. If you don’t, you’ll gain experience points but won’t actually improve, so keep track of your progress as you play.
How To Use Wind Sense
As we touched on earlier, Where Winds Meet doesn’t offer much guidance, so it’s easy to miss important features. A particularly useful ability, called Wind Sense, isn’t prominently explained. It’s essentially a warning system, like a sixth sense, that helps you navigate the game.
Wind Sense helps you easily spot enemies, important objects, and anything else you might need, whether you’re exploring the world or tackling a tough puzzle. Activate it by holding down the right stick on a controller, or pressing V on your keyboard.
Crouch when in Wind Sense to move faster.
How To Upgrade Gear
At the beginning of most games, you start with simple weapons. Players often don’t bother improving these because they know they’ll find much better equipment soon.
In this game, upgrading a weapon actually improves the weapon slot itself. This means that as you level up the slot, you maintain that level no matter which weapon you equip. So, you don’t have to worry about losing progress or wasting resources on early weapons – any upgrades will carry over to whatever weapon you use.
Moments When You Can’t Double Jump
Sometimes you might lose the ability to double jump in the game, but don’t worry, it’s temporary! Here’s what could be causing it:
- Mo Blades: You cannot perform a double jump while using Mo Blades. There is no explanation why, but it’s likely a balancing issue with the rest of the built-in skills.
- Lightness Skill: It’s also possible that you’re in an area that restricts this skill, such as quest areas, dungeons, and NPC homes.
If you’re playing in a location where the Lightness Skill isn’t allowed, you’ll see a red icon in the upper-left corner of your screen.
Reduce Fall Damage
The game features a stunning and expansive world, including steep mountains. Climbing these mountains can be risky – a bad fall can injure your character and require a trip to the doctor. While it’s usually safest to stay on the main paths, Where Winds Meet encourages exploration, and sometimes that means climbing like you would in a game like Skyrim.
If you have to take a risky path, you can avoid fall damage by using the Mighty Drop skill. While in the air, press the left stick on your controller or the ‘Q’ key on your keyboard to land with a powerful drop, which will eliminate any damage from falling.
Keep Your Ears Open
This game is visually beautiful, with bright colors and lots of interesting details. However, paying attention to sounds is just as crucial as what you see. The game won’t always directly tell you what to do or where to go, so stay alert!
You’ll often hear sounds like conversations, barking dogs, or insects that can guide you. Pay attention to these sounds – they’re usually shown with a small soundwave on screen – and they’ll often lead you to a quest or something new to discover.
Changing Time
You’ll find lots of quests as you explore, but you won’t be able to start them all immediately. Some require waiting for a certain time or day, and it seems like you’re stuck until you realize you can actually change the in-game clock. Once you know that, things become much easier!
Changing the time and weather is simple! Just go to the Time section of the menu. From there, you can adjust the dial to set the time and choose the weather you prefer.
Changing the in-game clock doesn’t affect time-limited quests or interactions.
