As a huge fan of the Silent Hill movies, I was so excited to see the trailer for the new installment, Return to Silent Hill! It’s the third film in the series and gives us our first real glimpse of what’s in store.
The new psychological horror film is an adaptation of the popular video game Silent Hill 2. Christophe Gans both co-wrote and directed the movie, which features Jeremy Irvine as James Sunderland and Hannah Emily Anderson as Mary.

I was really excited when they first announced Return to Silent Hill back in October 2022! It’s been a long wait, but it’s cool to know they were filming in Germany and Serbia for over a year, from April 2023 to February 2024. Hopefully, all that work translates to something amazing on screen.
The film will be released in US theaters on January 23, 2026, with Cineverse and Iconic Events Releasing handling distribution. In France, Metropolitan Filmexport will release the movie on February 4, 2026.
The movie centers on James, who is heartbroken after losing the person he loves. He gets a strange letter that leads him back to the unsettling town of Silent Hill, believing he’ll find her there. However, he soon discovers the town has been twisted by a mysterious and sinister power.
While moving through an altered city, James comes face-to-face with frightening creatures, both ones he recognizes and completely new threats. The film’s description notes that he begins to question his own mind, desperately trying to discern reality as he fights to protect the woman he loves.
Evie Templeton joins the cast as Laura. Interestingly, she also provided the motion capture and voice for the same character in the upcoming remake of the Silent Hill 2 game, bringing a familiar touch to the role.
The recently released trailer gives fans a preview of the film’s spooky mood and gripping story. This new installment aims to further explore the unsettling world of Silent Hill, while still capturing the psychological horror that made the original games so popular.
