The new wuxia MMO, Where Winds Meet, has some challenging bosses, but players are finding that none are quite as difficult as fighting a single, surprisingly powerful goose.
If you look at the game’s subreddit or Steam forums, you’ll find players confused and sharing warnings about geese – some even joking about throwing them! While Where Winds Meet isn’t focused on harming animals, like the chickens in The Legend of Zelda, these geese can actually be quite dangerous.
Many players encounter a quest where they’re supposed to heal a goose, but if they fail, the goose turns into a powerful demon called Maniacal Goose. It’s pretty obvious something’s changed – it turns red, gets a lot more health, and starts attacking you. Still, there’s an achievement for defeating it, and players often can’t resist going for it, even when they know it’s a bad idea.
Players quickly discovered a simple tactic in the new game, Where Winds Meet: if they encountered the troublesome demon goose or other geese roaming the world, they could just throw them into the water. Surprisingly, geese in this game will drown and don’t even try to swim to safety, eventually disappearing after taking damage.
Before its launch, Where Winds Meet garnered over 10 million pre-registrations, and now sees around 160,000 players online each day on Steam. Unfortunately, not enough new players seem to know about a key strategy for dealing with a difficult enemy, leading to frequent defeats.

Reddit user Final-Trifle1765 shared a surprising experience: while looking at the game map, they were unexpectedly attacked and killed by a goose that delivered a swift kick. They’re now wondering if this is a common occurrence.
Another player, SebaElite1975 on Steam, was also confused and went to the game forums for help. They pleaded for a video tutorial, writing, “MAKE A VIDEO HOW TO KILL A GOOSE. I DON’T WANT TEXT INSTRUCTIONS, I WANT A VIDEO. It’s impossible to defeat him!”
A Steam user named Tarobun posted a plea for help, simply stating, “It’s red and attacks me.” Other users quickly advised picking up the aggressive goose and throwing it in water, or temporarily stunning it and making a run for it. Tarobun hasn’t replied since Monday, leading many to believe they’ve fallen victim to the goose’s relentless attacks.
Okay, so remember Untitled Goose Game? That wasn’t just a silly little game, it was a sign! Now, in Where Winds Meet, we’re really seeing the consequences of not taking those geese seriously. Seriously, these geese are way more powerful than they appear, and you can’t just fight them like normal enemies. If you’re planning on jumping into the MMO, be warned! Like one Redditor, VeryZok, put it perfectly: “He’s a god, not a goose, respect him.” You’ve been warned!
