Get ready to return to the magical land of Oz in Wicked: For Good! This exciting two-part continuation features the return of familiar characters, with Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba. Since the first Wicked film came out last November, fans have been wondering who would play Dorothy. Now, the wait is over – the studio has announced that British actress and Pilates instructor Bethany Weaver will take on the iconic role.
Bethany Weaver is Dorothy
Everyone knows Dorothy, the pigtailed girl from Kansas made famous by Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz. Now, 86 years later, Dorothy is returning to the big screen. With the huge popularity of Jon M. Chu’s Wicked, people were eager to find out who would play her next. The answer? Bethany Weaver, a 30-year-old Pilates instructor from Surrey. Interestingly, the filmmakers are keeping a lot of details about this new Dorothy a secret.
A report in The Sun claims Sigourney Weaver has a very small role in the Wicked sequel, appearing for only 69 seconds and speaking just six words. Her face isn’t shown at all. The production team has also been careful to limit publicity around her, with Weaver absent from premieres and the cast reportedly discouraged from engaging with her on social media. Weaver hasn’t posted anything about Wicked on her own Instagram either. Director Jon Chu says this was a deliberate choice to keep the focus on the main characters, Glinda and Elphie, as Wicked: For Good is their story.
I didn’t want to interfere with your existing ideas about who Dorothy is or how you imagined the story would go,” Chu explained. “Ultimately, this is still about Elphaba and Glinda, and Dorothy is caught in the middle of their story.”
The Road To Wicked: For Good

I’m absolutely buzzing about the promotion for Wicked: For Good – it’s everywhere, and it’s fantastic! Just recently, NBC put on this incredible musical special, and it was a real treat to see the cast perform live. They previewed two new songs from the movie, and honestly, they were amazing. Cynthia Erivo sang “No Place Like Home,” and Ariana Grande performed “The Girl in the Bubble” – both will be featured in the film, and I can’t wait to hear the full versions!
We won’t see Dorothy much in the second half, but it’s great to finally ‘meet’ her – in a symbolic way, of course. As the story nears its long-awaited ending, we’re eager to experience the transformative power of the tale. Wicked: For Good arrives in theaters on November 21.
