As a huge movie fan, I was so excited to hear that we’re finally getting a glimpse of Tom Cruise working with Alejandro G. Iñárritu! Apparently, sources on set have shared some first looks at them together. What makes this even cooler is that this is Iñárritu’s first English-language film since ‘The Revenant’ back in 2015 – it’s been a while, and I can’t wait to see what they create!
This American comedy tells the story of the world’s most powerful leader, who desperately tries to be seen as a hero while his own life is falling apart and threatens to ruin everything he’s built.
Tom Cruise stars in the film, supported by a talented cast including Jesse Plemons, Sandra Hüller, Riz Ahmed, Sophie Wilde, Emma D’Arcy, Robert John Burke, Burn Gorman, Michael Stuhlbarg, and John Goodman.
Iñárritu recently described his upcoming film as a comedy, explaining that it will be a funny and thought-provoking look at power, ambition, and human mistakes. Tom Cruise will star in the movie after meeting with Iñárritu, continuing his working relationship with Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, the companies producing the film.
Here’s a first look at Tom Cruise collaborating with director Alejandro G. Iñárritu on their upcoming movie. The film centers around the world’s most influential leader, who attempts to establish himself as a hero before a catastrophic event threatens to wipe everything out.

Okay, so filming actually started over in the UK on November 7th, 2024, and I was really excited to hear Emmanuel Lubezki – seriously, the guy’s a master – was doing the cinematography. They shot the whole thing on 35mm film using VistaVision, which I’m hoping will give it a really unique look. Production wrapped up on May 3rd after about six months, though there was a little scare in March when John Goodman had a minor hip issue, thankfully he recovered quickly!
Warner Bros. will release the movie in the U.S. on October 2, 2026, and it will also be available in IMAX theaters.
