A surprising thing about the new DC Universe (DCU) is that it’s not completely discarding everything from the previous DC Extended Universe (DCEU). James Gunn’s Peacemaker series is a prime example, and we might see other familiar characters reappear too. Even the generally disliked Black Adam had a standout performance by Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate – many fans agreed he was great. Now, Brosnan has hinted that Doctor Fate could be in the 2027 film Man of Tomorrow, and he’s eager to reprise the role, which is exciting news.
I was really excited to hear Pierce Brosnan talk about his role as Doctor Fate! He revealed in a GQ interview (as reported by IGN) that the original idea was for his character to be a regular fixture in the DC Universe, a key part of future films. Sadly, that plan changed after Black Adam didn’t perform as hoped, and it seems Dwayne Johnson’s vision for the studio didn’t quite take off. Still, it’s fascinating to hear what Brosnan had to say about it all, and here’s what he shared:
There’s been talk about Doctor Fate getting his own TV series or film, and I’ve also heard he might appear in the upcoming Superman movie. I really liked the character’s depth and philosophical side, and I’d absolutely be interested in exploring that further if the opportunity arose.
Rumors are always circulating, and actors often hear things on set. But just because something is said doesn’t make it true. James Gunn probably knows what’s really happening, and we may need to update this article once he confirms things. However, the idea of more heroes appearing in the upcoming Superman movie, currently titled Man of Tomorrow, isn’t surprising. Superman already features a wide range of characters beyond the main hero. So far, the new DC Universe seems to frequently include supporting heroes, and with Mister Terrific already involved, it’s plausible we’ll see other members of the Justice Society of America as well.
Will Pierce Brosnan reprise his role as Dr. Kent Nelson? It’s currently unknown, and even he doesn’t seem to have a definitive answer. However, he was a standout performance in an otherwise poor film, so many fans, including myself, would welcome the chance to see him play the character again.
