Wes Ball, the director of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and The Maze Runner, is directing the new movie. It will be released in theaters on May 7, 2027.

Shigeru Miyamoto, the producer of the upcoming film, announced the actors for the live-action “Legend of Zelda” movie this summer. He shared on social media that Bo Bragason will play Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will play Link, expressing his excitement to see them both in the film.

I’m so excited about this new movie! It’s a fantasy adventure inspired by the beloved Nintendo video game series. It’s a collaboration between Columbia Pictures and Nintendo, and Sony Pictures is handling the distribution. Alongside Chris Ball and Shigeru Miyamoto, the producing team includes Avi Arad and Joe Hartwick Jr., and the story is being brought to life by writers Derek Connolly and T. S. Nowlin. I also just learned that Dichen Lachman is joining the cast as Impa, which is fantastic!

Production began in Wellington, New Zealand, in November and should wrap up by April 2026. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters globally on May 7, 2027.
