I just watched the Buffalo Bills dominate the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with Josh Allen throwing for six touchdowns. Then, I saw the Denver Broncos soundly defeat Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Great day.
To finish things off, you could check out the season two premiere of Landman on Paramount+. I really enjoyed the first season and it quickly became one of my favorite shows, so I was eager to see what happened next.
Wow, the Season 2 premiere was really disappointing. It felt like a pointless episode, and a season opener should be exciting and pull you in, not make you lose interest.
This one pushes hard.

So, the big twist was that Jon Hamm’s character, Monty Miller, was actually gone, and his wife – Demi Moore – was stepping up to run his massive oil company. She gave this whole powerful speech to prove she meant business, but honestly, it just didn’t grab me. I wasn’t really invested, to be honest.
Next, the son dives headfirst into trying to win over a woman he’s just met, showering her with attention and gifts. Conveniently, he suddenly becomes wealthy, and it’s all in an attempt to impress her—though it’s important to note this isn’t about his own child.
The daughter hasn’t improved either. She gets into a new college solely to pursue relationships with athletes, and once there, she demonstrates she’s just as superficial as before.

The dinner scene is a complete disaster. It quickly devolves into outdated jokes and intense emotional arguments, centering around the idea that Mom’s hormones are interfering with her ability to run the business.
The episode features a heartbreaking scene of Sam Elliott experiencing a breakup while in a nursing home, and ends with Billy Bob Thornton receiving the news of his mother’s passing.
The Verdict
This first episode feels like a missed opportunity. It doesn’t establish any storylines, create excitement, or grab your attention—it actually makes you lose interest. If the next few episodes are similar, I’ll stop watching. Perhaps Taylor Sheridan’s decision to step back is for the best.
2/10. Skip it.
