The Conjuring: Last Rites arrives on HBO Max: Watch the epic finale of the horror franchise

The latest Conjuring movie, “The Conjuring: Last Rites,” is expected to be the last in the series and will be available to stream on HBO Max starting November 21st. You can also watch it on TV for the first time on November 22nd at 8 PM.

Directed by Michael Chaves, the movie brings back Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren, the famous paranormal investigators. The story is inspired by the well-known Smurl Haunting and focuses on the Warrens as they investigate a frightening supernatural occurrence linked to one of their earliest cases. The cast also includes Mia Tomlinson, Ben Hardy, Tony Spera, and others.

As a fan of the supernatural, I’ve been following The Conjuring universe since James Wan’s original film in 2013, and it’s wild to think it’s all leading to a conclusion with The Conjuring: Last Rites! Over the past twelve years, we’ve seen this world expand with the Annabelle and The Nun stories, and now Michael Chaves, who did a great job with The Curse of La Llorona, is taking the director’s chair for this final chapter. Thankfully, James Wan and Peter Safran, the masterminds behind it all, are still producing, so you know they’re keeping everything consistent with what we’ve come to love – and fear!

Beyond the haunting, the movie delves into the personal lives of the Warrens, particularly their daughter Judy, giving the story more emotional weight. The script was written by Ian Goldberg, Richard Naing, and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who also co-created the story with James Wan. Chad and Carey Hayes originally developed the characters.

HBO Max plans and franchise marathon

New Line Cinema, the studio behind the popular Conjuring movies and part of Warner Bros. Discovery, is bringing the entire Conjuring universe to HBO Max. To celebrate, fans can enjoy a full marathon of all the films on Saturday, November 22nd.
