This week on Paramount+, people are watching a variety of shows and movies – from brand new releases to popular classics. You’ll find quick summaries below for each title, including information about the creators, cast, and plot, so you can easily choose what to watch.
‘Fight or Flight’ (2025)

James Madigan directs this action-packed comedy starring Josh Hartnett, Charithra Chandran, Marko Zaror, and Katee Sackhoff. The movie follows a dangerous mission on a commercial airplane, where a person who needs protection and their bodyguard must survive a flight filled with assassins. It first premiered in the U.K., then came to the U.S., and is now available for streaming on Paramount+. Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee produced the film.
’21 Jump Street’ (2012)

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller directed this funny action movie, a fresh take on a popular 1980s TV show. The film stars Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum as undercover cops who go back to high school to solve a drug case, with supporting roles from Brie Larson, Dave Franco, Ice Cube, and Rob Riggle. After premiering at a film festival, the movie was released by Sony and became a worldwide success, leading to a follow-up film. The music was composed by Mark Mothersbaugh.
‘Shooter’ (2007)

I’m really excited about this new movie! It’s based on a Stephen Hunter book called ‘Point of Impact,’ and it looks intense. Mark Wahlberg plays a former Marine sniper who gets caught up in a really bad situation – someone sets him up for a murder he didn’t commit! The whole movie is about how he fights to prove his innocence and uncover a much bigger conspiracy. Jonathan Lemkin did the script, and it’s a pretty big deal because Paramount is distributing it overseas with help from other studios. Plus, the cast is awesome – Michael Peña, Danny Glover, and Kate Mara are all in it, too!
‘Vicious’ (2025)

This horror movie, written and directed by Bryan Bertino, features Dakota Fanning, Kathryn Hunter, Mary McCormack, and Rachel Blanchard. After premiering at a film festival, Paramount released it both in theaters and on their streaming service. The story follows a woman whose life falls apart when she’s haunted by an unknown presence. The film was produced by Atlas Independent and runs for just under two hours.
‘Grown Ups’ (2010)

Directed by Dennis Dugan, this funny movie stars Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, and Rob Schneider, with supporting roles played by Salma Hayek, Maria Bello, and Maya Rudolph. The film centers around a group of childhood friends who get together with their families for a summer vacation, leading to playful competition and classic silly moments. Released by Sony Pictures, it was a huge hit with audiences around the world. It was produced by Happy Madison and co-written by Adam Sandler and Fred Wolf.
‘Top Gun: Maverick’ (2022)

Top Gun: Maverick, directed by Joseph Kosinski, brings back Tom Cruise as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, who is now tasked with training a group of young naval aviators for a dangerous mission. The film was first released in theaters by Paramount and later became a streaming success on their platform, breaking viewership records. It was a major box office hit worldwide and received several Academy Award nominations. The cast features both returning favorites and new faces, including Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, and Glen Powell.
‘American Made’ (2017)

I recently saw Doug Liman’s Barry Seal, and it was a wild ride! Tom Cruise plays Barry, a pilot who gets pulled into some seriously dangerous stuff – working with both the CIA and drug cartels. It had a bit of a staggered release; it premiered in Asia in August and then came to the US in late September. The film really brings to life Barry’s incredible story of smuggling and his secret work for the government during the height of the drug war. It was a big hit, and rightfully so – it’s a fast-paced, fascinating true story that really kept me hooked.
‘Fatman’ (2020)

Directed by Eshom and Ian Nelms, the dark action-comedy features Mel Gibson as a cynical Santa Claus and Walton Goggins as a hitman seeking revenge on behalf of a disgruntled child. The story revolves around a struggling North Pole workshop facing financial difficulties, culminating in a violent confrontation. Saban Films released the approximately 100-minute film, which also stars Marianne Jean-Baptiste.
‘Step Brothers’ (2008)

Directed by Adam McKay, this hilarious comedy stars Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly as two grown men unexpectedly becoming stepbrothers when their single parents get married. The movie follows their chaotic life together as they navigate jobs and, eventually, grow up a little. With a supporting cast including Mary Steenburgen, Richard Jenkins, Adam Scott, and Kathryn Hahn, it quickly became a classic and continues to be a popular, funny choice for a movie night.
‘The Naked Gun’ (2025)

The latest installment in the long-running spoof-comedy series, directed by Akiva Schaffer and produced by Seth MacFarlane, stars Liam Neeson as the son of the famous detective, Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. Joining him are Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, and Danny Huston. The movie follows Drebin Jr.’s clumsy investigation of a big case as he tries to keep his police station running. After a theatrical release, it became available to watch at home and through streaming services. It’s the fourth film in the series and maintains the same silly, physical humor as the original movies.
