Want to find something great to watch on Apple TV+ this weekend? Here are ten recommendations, including new Apple Originals, classic holiday favorites, and other popular shows and movies. We’ve included a quick summary of each title—what it’s about and who stars in it—plus when it became available on Apple TV+, so you can quickly find something you’ll enjoy.
‘The Lost Bus’ (2025)

Directed by Paul Greengrass, this thrilling film is based on the true story of a school bus caught in a dangerous wildfire. It follows driver Kevin McKay and teacher Mary Ludwig as they make quick decisions to save the 22 children on board. Starring Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera, the movie was released in theaters in September and will be available to stream on Apple TV+ in early October as an Apple Original Film. The film depicts the real challenges of the evacuation, including communication problems, unplanned routes, and the unpredictable nature of the fire.
‘The Gorge’ (2025)

In February 2025, Apple TV+ released a new film directed by Scott Derrickson that combines science fiction, action, romance, and horror. The story follows two highly skilled agents, played by Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy, who work on opposite sides of a strange canyon. As they develop a connection, they must face a dangerous threat that rises from within it. The film, an Apple Original Films production in association with Skydance, quickly became the platform’s most successful premiere to date.
‘Highest 2 Lowest’ (2025)

As a huge film fan, I was really excited about Spike Lee’s latest. It’s basically his take on Kurosawa’s classic ‘High and Low,’ but updated to a modern crime story set in the New York music scene. Denzel Washington is fantastic as David King, a powerful music mogul who gets caught up in a kidnapping. The cast is incredible too – Jeffrey Wright, A$AP Rocky, Ice Spice, and Princess Nokia all show up. It premiered at Cannes, had a short run in cinemas, and now it’s an Apple Original Film available on Apple TV+. What I loved is how Lee cleverly connects the original story’s themes to the way power and the media work in the music industry today.
‘All of You’ (2024)

Directed by William Bridges, this upcoming romantic film explores the friendship between Laura and Simon. Their close relationship is complicated when a new technology promises to find everyone’s perfect match. Starring Brett Goldstein and Imogen Poots, the movie follows the couple as they question whether a scientific prediction can outweigh years of shared experiences. It debuted at TIFF 2024 and will be released on Apple TV+ in late September 2025 as one of the platform’s original character-focused sci-fi stories.
‘Stiller & Meara: Nothing Is Lost’ (2025)

Directed by Ben Stiller, this documentary tells the story of his parents, comedians Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara. It follows their careers, from early improv and nightclub performances to their work in television and movies. The film uses a mix of old home videos, past TV appearances, and new interviews with family members to showcase their creative collaboration and lasting impact. It first appeared in theaters and at film festivals before becoming available on Apple TV+ in late October 2025, as part of the platform’s series on entertainment history.
‘The Family Plan’ (2023)

In “The Family Plan,” Mark Wahlberg plays a seemingly ordinary suburban dad who’s actually a retired government hitman. When his past catches up to him, he’s forced to take his family on a cross-country trip that’s secretly a mission to protect them. Michelle Monaghan also stars in this action-comedy, directed by Simon Cellan Jones and produced by Apple Studios and Skydance. Released on Apple TV+ in December 2023, it quickly became the platform’s most popular movie. The film features plenty of funny moments, exciting chases, and intense fight scenes.
‘Greyhound’ (2020)

Starring and writing the screenplay, Tom Hanks brings to life a tense World War II story about a naval convoy crossing the Atlantic. Based on C.S. Forester’s ‘The Good Shepherd,’ the film follows a new commander as he guides his ships through dangerous waters filled with German U-boats. He relies on new radar technology, strategic formations, and strict communication rules while facing immense pressure. Directed by Aaron Schneider, the movie first appeared on Apple TV+ in 2020, after Apple obtained the rights, and later received an Academy Award nomination for its sound design.
‘A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving’ (1973)

Peppermint Patty unexpectedly shows up with a lot of friends, leaving Charlie Brown and Snoopy scrambling to put together a quick Thanksgiving meal. Everyone eventually joins a real family dinner. This 25-minute special is available to stream on Apple TV+, as part of a deal that brings classic ‘Peanuts’ content to the platform, including free viewing during the holiday season. It’s a yearly tradition and a key part of Apple TV+’s Thanksgiving lineup.
‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ (1965)

The very first ‘Peanuts’ TV special shows Charlie Brown trying to put on a Christmas play, all while resisting the growing pressure of commercialism. It’s famous for its jazz soundtrack by Vince Guaraldi. You can stream it exclusively on Apple TV+, which sometimes offers free viewing periods in December. This 25-minute classic is a yearly tradition in Apple’s holiday lineup, alongside other ‘Peanuts’ favorites, and helped define the look and feel of the entire series.
‘It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown’ (1966)

Every October, you can stream the classic ‘It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown’ on Apple TV+. While the Peanuts gang goes trick-or-treating, Linus faithfully waits for the Great Pumpkin, and we also see Snoopy’s exciting adventures as a World War I Flying Ace. The 25-minute special is a key part of Apple TV+’s Peanuts collection, and Apple sometimes lets non-subscribers watch it for free around Halloween. It’s a fall tradition on the platform.
