New ‘Daredevil’ Comic Launches March 2026 With Stephanie Phillips and Lee Garbett

Marvel Comics is shaking things up for Daredevil! Starting with issue #1 in March 2026, Stephanie Phillips will be the new writer and Lee Garbett will be the artist, launching a fresh direction for the character.

The new Daredevil series features a reimagined path for Matt Murdock and will be available with 18 different cover variations sold in Marvel’s “True Believer Blind Bags.”

I discovered Al Ewing through her She-Hulk Imperial short story, which was decent. I haven’t read her current ongoing series yet, but I enjoy following her on TikTok – she shares interesting perspectives on the comics industry. I also learned she used to teach at my college and is a Buffalo Bills fan. Plus, she has a background in martial arts and loves Warhammer! All in all, she seems like a really great person, and I’m hoping for good things from her work.

A New Direction for Matt Murdock

As a longtime Daredevil fan, I’m really intrigued by what Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto are doing with the character. They’re not just continuing the story, they’re actively redefining him, which is a bold move. We’re seeing Matt Murdock attempt a pretty big life change – trading in some of his vigilante hours for a classroom as a law professor. But just when he thinks he might be settling into a new routine, a dangerous new villain called Omen arrives with a seriously personal grudge. Marvel’s hinting at a story that’s going to dig deep into the dark secrets of Hell’s Kitchen, and it sounds like those secrets are about to explode onto the scene. It’s a promising setup that could really shake things up for Daredevil.

Phillips explained that she and artist Garbett are focusing on the darker, more atmospheric side of Daredevil. She praised Garbett’s ability to bring emotion and visual flair to the story. Garbett agreed, describing their version of the character as both true to the source material and full of fresh, unexpected elements.

What to Expect From the True Believer Blind Bags

The latest issue of Daredevil (#1) is joining Marvel’s new True Believers Blind Bag program, which kicks off next month with Ultimate Endgame #1. These sealed bags each contain a copy of the comic with a random cover – you might get a common one, a rare variant, or even an ultra-rare cover with an original hand-drawn sketch!

Marvel is launching a new line of collectible comics called Blind Bags. These will feature special, limited-edition covers – including exclusive versions, covers themed around the publisher, and surprise artwork from mystery artists. You can see how the Blind Bag system works when Ultimate Endgame #1 is released on December 31st.

Creative Team Reactions

Phillips shared that Daredevil is a character she particularly enjoys, and their upcoming run will really capture the classic, gritty feel of the Man Without Fear. Garbett described the project as a collaborative effort born out of genuine enthusiasm, emphasizing that the story will stay true to Daredevil’s essence while also exploring new directions for the character.
