According to TheWrap, Superman and his longtime enemy Lex Luthor will team up in James Gunn’s new movie, “Man of Tomorrow,” to battle a formidable new threat.
The film will feature Superman and Batman joining forces to battle Brainiac, a powerful and well-known enemy of Superman.
Okay, so here’s the latest on this upcoming Superman flick. Production is gearing up to start in Atlanta in April 2026, and we’re looking at a July 9th, 2027 release date. Now, for a while, fans have been speculating about the villain, and it seems like Brainiac is finally going to be the big bad. What’s really interesting, though, is the rumor that Superman and Lex Luthor will actually be forced to team up – that’s a dynamic I’m incredibly excited to see play out on the big screen!
James Gunn has been developing a new Superman movie for some time now. He revealed in June that it wouldn’t be a traditional sequel, but would still be very much about the iconic hero.
In August, David Zaslav announced that James Gunn would write and direct the next Superman movie. Gunn had already completed a story outline and explained the film would continue the story established in the previous Superman film.
James Gunn announced in September that the new Superman movie will be titled “Man of Tomorrow” and will be released in July 2027. He also confirmed that Rachel Brosnahan, Naomi Corenswet, and Nicholas Hoult are all set to reprise their roles. Gunn explained the story will focus equally on Superman and Lex Luthor, with the two characters teaming up to face a larger danger.
