POKER FACE Is Cancelled at Peacock But Rian Johnson Has a Bizarre Plan Involving Peter Dinklage

These days, it’s become pretty common for streaming shows to get cancelled – we even keep a list of all the TV shows ending in 2025! But cancellation doesn’t always mean a show is truly over. That’s what creator Rian Johnson is hoping for his popular series, Poker Face. While fans were eager for a third season, Peacock has cancelled the show after two seasons. However, Rian Johnson has a plan: he’s hoping to find a new home for Poker Face with a commitment for two more seasons, and he wants Peter Dinklage to continue playing the lead character, Charlie Cale. (We saw this news first at Deadline.)

Let that sink in for a moment. It’s understandable that Rian Johnson is looking for a new home for Poker Face after it was canceled, especially since he has ideas for at least two more seasons of the detective-style show. However, I’m struggling to understand the plan to replace Natasha Lyonne, who plays the main character Charlie Cale, with Peter Dinklage.

I have great respect for Peter Dinklage, he’s a fantastic actor. But the real heart of the show is what Natasha Lyonne brings to her character. The fact that Charlie is a woman is frequently woven into the story, particularly when she faces situations where people don’t believe her simply because she’s a woman.

Natasha Lyonne appears to support Peter Dinklage becoming the lead in the show. She and creator Johnson released a statement explaining they’ve been planning this change since finishing season two. They expressed their affection for Poker Face and believe this is a great way to continue the series, hinting that Charlie Cale might return in the future.

It’s interesting to note that Poker Face season two performed very well on Peacock. Hopefully, we’ll see more of Charlie solving mysteries in future seasons, with Peter Dinklage continuing to star. Wow, that would be great!
