We Ate Kraft’s Limited-Edition Apple Pie Mac & Cheese with Other WEIRD Foods

Kraft Mac & Cheese has been experimenting with unusual flavors lately, and their latest creation is no exception: Mac & Cheese Apple Pie. After trying it, we were surprised by how well the strange combination actually worked. In fact, the more we played around with it, the more we enjoyed it! Kraft has previously released limited-edition flavors like Everything Bagel, Valentine’s Candy, and Pumpkin Spice, so this continues their tradition of unexpected twists.

Kraft is introducing a limited-edition Mac & Cheese Apple Pie flavor, calling it a surprisingly tasty combination of creamy mac and cheese and spiced apple pie – perfect for the season! At first glance, it looks just like regular mac and cheese, but the real excitement happens when you open the flavor packet. That’s when a burst of delicious flavor transforms the dish.

Despite looking like classic Kraft mac and cheese powder with its orange color, it surprisingly smelled just like a freshly baked apple pie. It tasted so amazing that I completely forgot about all my other plans.

When you mix the macaroni with butter and milk, it weakens the apple pie smell, though you can still detect it. It’s just not as strong as it was before.

The first surprising thing about this apple pie mac and cheese was the taste – it was mostly just a milder version of standard Kraft Mac & Cheese. The apple flavor was very subtle; you mostly tasted cinnamon and a touch of nutmeg, and even then, those flavors didn’t really hit until after you’d finished chewing. It had a thick, coating texture that clung to your mouth. While the cinnamon and a hint of apple did eventually emerge, the way it stuck around wasn’t pleasant, making it a mixed experience of pasta, apple, and cheese.

Kraft’s Apple Pie Mac & Cheese is perfectly edible – it doesn’t taste bad at all. However, it’s not as delicious as the classic version, and it doesn’t have the strong apple pie flavor I was expecting. I hoped for a mac and cheese with apple pie, but it just hints at the flavor.

Don’t worry, I love experimenting with strange food combinations – I’ve got plenty of evidence! And this was just the beginning of my adventures. First creation? A Kraft Mac & Cheese Apple Pie… served with actual apple pie.

I’ve heard some people enjoy apple pie with cheese, but I’ve never been brave enough to try it – I only live once! However, as a professional, I felt I needed to test out this unusual combination with Kraft’s new flavor.

It wasn’t strange at all, actually. Surprisingly, it was quite good! The macaroni and cheese and pie tasted great together, especially when eaten with the apple pieces. The flavors complemented each other, and the pie actually enhanced the apple notes in the macaroni and cheese.

Serving the pie at room temperature was a good move, since the mac and cheese was already warm – I didn’t want both dishes to be hot. Looking back, it was a surprisingly good idea! The thick crust of my pie also helped; a thinner crust might not have worked well with the chewy macaroni. It wasn’t the most delicious thing I’ve ever eaten, and I won’t be pairing apple pie and mac and cheese again, but it honestly wasn’t bad. It was a bit silly, but in a fun and interesting way.

Just to be clear: if someone enjoys apple pie with cheese, that doesn’t mean they’re right, and it certainly doesn’t validate their life choices! I’m just saying that’s my professional opinion. When I’m not working, I prefer to eat apple pie the traditional way – without cheese or macaroni.

I wasn’t very excited about my final dish. I love apple pie with vanilla ice cream, but the idea of vanilla ice cream flavored mac and cheese with apple pie just didn’t sound good.

This was definitely the best way to enjoy Kraft’s limited-edition flavor, at least for a little while. I’m not sure why it worked, but pairing it with vanilla ice cream really highlighted the apple pie notes in the mac and cheese. It actually lived up to the enticing aroma of the powder. And surprisingly, it was genuinely good – truly tasty and enjoyable. That is, until the flavor faded.

The macaroni cooled down, and that’s when everything went downhill. What started as a pleasant dish became really unpleasant – the cold pasta was so tough and chewy it was awful, like trying to eat frozen rubber. I had to stop eating it right away. The terrible texture completely masked any good flavor. It made me realize how smart I’d been to eat my pie the way I did – serving either the pie or the mac and cheese cold would have ruined both! I really made a good choice there.

If you’re inspired to try making Kraft Mac & Cheese Apple Pie, here’s my advice: Follow my instructions exactly, but when you get to the ice cream, don’t put a large amount of mac and cheese on top all at once. Instead, add it a little bit at a time to keep the macaroni warm and prevent it from getting chewy.

It might not look as good as the way I plated it, but that’s not important. I experimented with Kraft products so you wouldn’t have to go through the same trial and error. I didn’t go quite as far, but you get the idea.

Kraft Mac & Cheese Apple Pie is available for a limited time at Walmart.
