NTU and Zero Gravity Make Blockchain AI Like Pizza-But Transparent

NTU Singapore and Zero Gravity are teaming up to tackle something big-or at least, kind of big-like a $3.84 million research project on blockchain-based AI. Because why make a simple AI when you can make it transparent and decentralized?

Decentralized AI? Is That Even a Thing?

Oh, look, Nanyang Technological University, or, as I call it, the beacon of brilliance NTU Singapore, has decided to buddy up with Zero Gravity (0G). Let’s throw an insane $3.84 million at this collaboration because apparently, AI needs transparency almost as much as I need a good steak. And guess what? This might be the first time a university is having a prom with a blockchain firm.

Turns out, we’re looking at a strategy to make AI not a confusing Apple device owned by an obscure company but instead something totally open and transparent like an open kitchen-which I love because, transparency! Of course, this all happened a year after Zero Gravity hogged over US$325 million in funding, so I’m sure they’ll figure out what to do with the extra cash. 😏

The grand opening was officiated by 0G’s CEO Michael Heinrich, and NTU Vice President Louis Phee, who notably said: “Open and trustworthy AI depends on being decentralised and accountable.” I barely know what AI is-certainly not responsible enough to get a job or cook dinner-but I’m sure Louis has it all figured out.

And then, Michael Heinrich steps in with: “Our goal is to make AI a public good.” I’m halfway there with wanting something to cook dinner for me-private, public, I’m not picky! But no centralised AI monopolies, that’s my kind of plan. Pooling talents together like it’s a sunny Saturday pool day-can’t tell if it’s genius or if we’re just making things needlessly complex.

This project is spearheaded by Professor Wen and Ming Wu of 0G, who are going to focus on these decentralized computing architectures and AI marketplaces that pay you to contribute. Because who doesn’t want to be paid to tweet their pet’s photos for data and computing resources?

The Brussels sprouts of this project include workshops, hackathons, and scholarships, all marketed as cultivating Asia’s next decentralized AI talent. We expect early proof-of-concepts within two years. Meaning: It’s going to be a long, confusing road, and honestly, it’s likely to crash before it even hits the highway.

Finally, NTU’s College of Computing and Data Science will be leading the charge in scalable model training and blockchain security, whatever that means. Something about a Center in Computational Technologies for Finance (CCTF) involved too, because layered acronyms are just so fun, right?

FAQ👀

  • What’s the deal with NTU-Zero Gravity chimps together? It’s a $3.84 million project in Singapore focusing on blockchain-based AI opportunities.
  • Why should I care about this collab? Well, it’s 0G’s first dance with a university…and it’s setting up shop in Singapore as a decentralized AI hub. Big things, right?
  • What’s the main focus of this exciting hub? They’ll be playing around with decentralized AI training and those blockchain-integrated whatnots, like proof-of-useful-work. How very clever! 🧠💸
  • Is Singapore getting anything from this? Workshops, scholarships, and some real-world pilot projects in finance, healthcare, and smart infrastructure. Because who doesn’t want more workshops? 🎓
