FromSoftware, the creators of Elden Ring, intends to release downloadable content (DLC) for the game by March 2026. This information comes from a recent financial report by Kadokawa, FromSoftware’s parent company. Promotional materials for the upcoming DLC, called ‘Nightreign,’ previously suggested that it was in development.
If anyone is currently exploring the newest area of Nightreign, tell them to find a light source so they can see. Also, warn them not to accidentally touch any powerful enemies while feeling around in the dark. Though, they probably already know that… oh dear.
It looks like we’ll need to begin without their input. GamesRadar noticed that page 16 of the presentation report, which details results from the period ending September 30th, has the relevant information.
According to future plans, FromSoftware is working on three projects: the ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN DLC (expected in 2025), ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition (coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026), and a new game called The Duskbloods (also planned for 2026). For PC gamers, the most important news right now is the NIGHTREIGN DLC, though there’s hope The Duskbloods might come to PC eventually.
Kadokawa’s financial year concluded on March 31st, and they’re aiming to release the Nightreign DLC by March 31st, 2026. While that’s the target, they’ve built in some flexibility in case of unexpected delays.
The upcoming DLC will almost certainly include new playable characters and bosses. Beyond that, it’s harder to say for sure, though FromSoftware might bring back bosses from older Souls games. This DLC is more substantial than the free ‘Deep of the Night’ update, so I expect to see new areas to explore and possibly new game modes, alongside the new bosses and equipment to fight them with.
I’m hoping the next update includes a map based on Newcastle city center, with enemies dressed as fans shouting ‘Toon!’ when you approach. A poison swamp near Eldon Square would be amazing! I’m really excited and eagerly awaiting the release next March.
