It’s a tense, character-focused story that unfolds in a single, confined location.
‘Sovereign’ (2025)

The film ‘Sovereign’ is a dramatic thriller based on the real-life beliefs of the sovereign citizen movement. It tells the story of Jerry and Joe Kane, a father and son whose extreme anti-government views escalate into a dangerous confrontation with the police. Starring Nick Offerman and Jacob Tremblay, with supporting roles played by Dennis Quaid, Thomas Mann, Nancy Travis, and Martha Plimpton, the film—written and directed by Christian Swegal—explores themes of radicalization, unwavering beliefs, and the impact on family relationships, all set against the backdrop of a true crime story. Dustin Lane handled the cinematography, David Henry edited the film, and James McAlister composed the music.
‘Murder in Nashville’ (2025)

‘Murder in Nashville’ is a new TV movie mystery set in the heart of Nashville’s music industry. It follows Eden as she falls for Jax, the son of a powerful music executive, while a series of murders and long-held secrets come to light. ‘The Exorcism’ (2024)

Russell Crowe stars in ‘The Exorcism’ as an actor struggling with personal issues while filming a movie about demonic possession, leading his daughter to wonder if he’s battling addiction or something truly sinister. The film, written and directed by Joshua John Miller and M.A. Fortin, also features Sam Worthington, Ryan Simpkins, Chloe Bailey, Adam Goldberg, Adrian Pasdar, and David Hyde Pierce. It plays with the idea of a ‘cursed’ movie production and was released on Hulu on October 28th.
‘Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point’ (2024)

‘Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point,’ filmed on Long Island, tells the story of an Italian American family gathering for what could be their final holiday season together. Directed and co-written by Tyler Thomas Taormina and Eric Berger, the film features a large cast including Matilda Fleming, Maria Dizzia, Ben Shenkman, Francesca Scorsese, Elsie Fisher, Lev Cameron, Sawyer Spielberg, Gregg Turkington, and Michael Cera. The movie focuses on the little traditions families share, the tensions that can arise between generations, and the sadness that comes with change. Carson Lund handled the cinematography, and Kevin Anton was the editor.
‘The Last Duel’ (2021)

Ridley Scott’s film, ‘The Last Duel,’ tells the story of the final authorized duel in French history. It centers on knight Jean de Carrouges and squire Jacques Le Gris, following an accusation made by Jean’s wife, Marguerite. The screenplay, by Nicole Holofcener, Ben Affleck, and Matt Damon, is based on a nonfiction book by Eric Jager. Iannucci and Simon Blackwell updated the story for a modern audience, focusing on David’s path from a difficult childhood to becoming a writer. The film debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival and will be available on Hulu in early November. FilmNation Entertainment is involved, and the production highlights a fun and visually creative style.

The movie was written by Eric Roth, Bradley Cooper, and Will Fetters, with Matthew Libatique as the cinematographer and Jay Cassidy handling the editing. This is the fourth time this classic story has been adapted for the screen, and it’s now available on Hulu.
‘Unstoppable’ (2010)

Okay, so I just watched Tony Scott’s ‘Unstoppable,’ and it’s a really gripping thriller based on a true story – the CSX 8888 incident. It centers around an experienced train engineer, played by Denzel Washington, and a new conductor, Chris Pine, who are desperately trying to prevent a runaway freight train full of dangerous chemicals from causing a disaster. Rosario Dawson is fantastic as the yardmaster trying to help them. The movie is a real edge-of-your-seat ride, and it’s no surprise it was even nominated for an Academy Award for its sound editing. And if you’re looking for something to watch, it just dropped on Hulu on October 31st!
‘The Sound of Music’ (1965)

Directed by Robert Wise, this film adaptation of the beloved Rodgers and Hammerstein musical tells the story of Maria, who becomes a governess to the von Trapp family in Austria just before World War II. The screenplay is by Ernest Lehman, and the movie is filled with memorable songs by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. Starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, it’s a classic that won several Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and is now available on Hulu as of November 1st.
