For a while now, rumors have circulated about a third Gremlins movie, contingent on Steven Spielberg’s approval of the script. With so many classic franchises being revisited through reboots and sequels these days – and some of them succeeding – it seemed possible. Zach Galligan, who starred in the original Gremlins films, even hinted in July 2025 that a script was finished. He was right! Deadline reports that Gremlins 3 is officially happening and will be released on November 19, 2027. That means fans have waited 37 years since Gremlins 2: The New Batch came out in 1990 for a new installment.
Chris Columbus is set to direct and produce a third Gremlins movie, currently known as Gremlins 3. Steven Spielberg will also be involved as an executive producer. Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav revealed this news, adding that many talented creators are eager to work with the company. This announcement comes at a time when Warner Bros. Discovery is reportedly considering a sale, so the future of the project remains to be seen.
It’s exciting to imagine those mischievous little creatures back in a new movie! While there aren’t any casting announcements or other details yet, the release of Gremlins 3 is still some time away.
