Paramount Skydance Allegedly Blacklisting Pro-Palestine Talent as Company Shifts Toward “Male” and “MAGA-Aligned” Direction

David Ellison’s Paramount Skydance is increasingly known as a Hollywood studio involved in political issues.

According to several people familiar with the company, Larry Ellison is changing Oracle’s work environment to prioritize more traditional, male-focused principles. This is a significant departure from the generally progressive culture found at most large entertainment companies.

Paramount Pictures has reportedly made its position clear regarding the conflict in Gaza, moving away from those within the entertainment industry who support Palestine. In September, the studio spoke out against a letter – signed by prominent actors like Emma Stone and Javier Bardem – that urged a boycott of Israeli film organizations, which the letter accused of supporting actions against Palestinians.

Paramount was the first big movie studio to publicly disagree with the celebrity statement. Warner Bros. followed with a statement of its own, but explained it was due to legal concerns, not political ones.

Sources say Paramount is increasingly unwilling to collaborate with certain filmmakers and actors. The company reportedly avoids working with individuals it believes hold openly antisemitic, xenophobic, or homophobic views.

It’s unknown if those who signed the Gaza letter are affected, but reports suggest some prominent Hollywood figures who publicly support Palestine – including people involved with DC projects – are being quietly excluded from work.

Since Ellison took over, the company culture is changing quickly. Employees say the environment feels more dominated by strong, assertive personalities, and conversations about patriotism, traditional values, and conservative politics are happening more often. Some people inside the company have noticed that the office TVs, which used to show channels like CNN or CNBC, now frequently play Fox News.

CBS News has shut down its team dedicated to covering race and culture. This unit was created following the death of George Floyd in 2020 and is part of the Paramount network.

Larry Ellison’s increasing power in Hollywood seems to be linked to his connection with former President Donald Trump. According to reports, Trump gave the green light to Paramount’s $7.7 billion merger with Skydance and continues to back the Ellison family’s efforts to grow their media business. Trump has publicly called the Ellisons ‘friends’ and expressed confidence they ‘will do the right thing’.

The studio’s preferences are clear in the types of shows and movies they’re making. New projects seem designed to appeal to viewers in the heartland of the country, with themes of patriotism and American strength. People familiar with the studio’s plans say the upcoming content will focus on American stories and aim to connect with audiences beyond the major coastal cities.

This change has sparked discussion in Hollywood. Some people welcome Ellison’s methods as a welcome break from what they see as a biased industry, while others worry it could lead to films driven by politics, potentially ignoring a variety of perspectives and opinions.
