Pokémon TCG Pocket’s new events let you get your missing promo cards

Pokémon TCG Pocket is celebrating its first anniversary with the release of the huge new Mega Rising expansion, starting the second year of play. To mark the occasion, The Pokémon Company is hosting special events where players can collect almost all of the promotional cards released during the game’s first year – a great chance to complete their Promo-A card collection!

As a fan, I’m really excited about this new opportunity! It looks like there are two parts to it – a ‘Wonder Pick’ event and a ‘Drop Event.’ The Drop Event seems like it’ll be a fun challenge where you battle against the computer using specific decks. Both events sound pretty similar, but they’re separate, so that’s cool!

The Wonder Pick event is simple: all previous Wonder Pick promo cards are now combined into one big pool. When the event resets, you might also find Bonus or Chansey Picks available. Getting these cards is random – it depends on what appears and what you select – but it’s a good way to complete your collection of Wonder Pick promos if you’re missing several.

The Drop Event offers a chance to replay 12 challenging battles from past events. Winning a battle rewards you with a Promo Pack themed after that specific event – each pack contains five cards, just like when the event originally ran. This is a great way to get cards you might have missed, and it’s more reliable than the Wonder Pick event because you can focus on replaying one particular battle to get the packs you want.

It’s important to remember that this event doesn’t include cards from the special Rayquaza ex Drop Event that happened earlier this year. If you’re still looking for those cards – they were found in Promo Pack A Series Vol. 7 – you won’t be able to get them now, and it’s unclear if they’ll be released again in the future.

You also won’t receive any bonus cards earned through purchases or special offers, like the monthly Premium cards or cards included with paid bundles, such as the Mewtwo card.

Okay, so if you’re like me and really don’t want to spend hours grinding for Wonder Picks and battling, there’s a good alternative way to snag those promo cards you’re missing. Each event has a list of missions – things like doing a certain number of Wonder Picks or winning battles. When you finish these missions, you get tickets. The best part? You can trade those tickets for exactly the card you need from the whole set for that event. It’s a lifesaver if you’re short on time but still want to complete your collection!

Just so you know, you’ll receive only one ticket for both the Wonder Pick and Drop events. Since you can only get one card total, it’s smart to hold onto your ticket until near the end of the event. That way, you can use it only if you’re certain you won’t get the card you want otherwise.

The Wonder Pick and Drop Events are finishing up soon, on November 9, 2025. If you’re hoping to collect any of the special promo cards, now’s the time to do it!
