Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming Frankenstein movie is generating a lot of excitement, and a key focus is on creating a deeply human portrayal of the Monster. Del Toro has shared that he aimed to bridge the gap between what we consider ‘normal’ and ‘other’ with his version of the character. While we’ll have to see the full impact of that vision when the movie releases, we now have a detailed look at Jacob Elordi as the Monster. And he looks fantastic! He’s surprisingly relatable and doesn’t even seem overly monstrous. We’ve only seen brief glimpses of Elordi in the role before, but now we have a full view. Check out this first-look image of Guillermo del Toro’s Monster from Frankenstein below.
Guillermo del Toro’s take on Frankenstein’s Monster looks fantastic. The special effects and makeup used to turn Jacob Elordi into the creature are truly impressive. According to Variety, Elordi’s prosthetics consisted of 42 pieces for his entire body, including 14 for just his head and neck. The creation of the full creature required a total of 54 silicone pieces. Each time Elordi was fully transformed took 10 hours, and this process happened 50 times during filming! Prosthetic artist Mike Hill explained their goal was to visually expose the inner workings of the human body, which is why the veins are so clearly visible on the Monster.
As a huge movie fan, I really appreciate the boldness of showing off a clear image of the Monster before Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein even hits theaters. Most films would keep that reveal under wraps, building suspense around what Jacob Elordi will look like as the Creature. But del Toro seems confident that a great movie stands on its own. He’s saying, if the film is good, it’s good – and a sneak peek at Elordi won’t change that. And honestly, I completely agree – it’s a refreshing approach, and I approve!

You can now see new photos of the cast of the upcoming Frankenstein movie, including Jacob Elordi, Oscar Isaac, Mia Goth, Felix Kammerer, and Christoph Waltz.
Guillermo del Toro’s new film, Frankenstein, is currently showing in some cinemas and will be available to stream on Netflix starting November 7th. We’re excited to see Jacob Elordi and the rest of the cast perform in it!
