Outer Worlds 2 For Whom the Bridge Tolls: How to cross the bridge

Okay, so I finally figured out how to get to the Vox Relay up north on Paradise Island, but now I’m stuck! The Protectorate has basically locked down the whole northern part of the island. There’s this one bridge that’s the only way across, and it’s swarming with soldiers who definitely don’t seem friendly. It looks like getting past them is going to be a real challenge!

Talk to the guard at the entrance, and they’ll explain how you can get in. We’ll then provide a step-by-step guide for the “For Whom the Bridge Tolls” quest.

Option 1 – Hand over Protectorate traitors

The simplest course of action is to follow the bridge guard’s instructions and deliver Charlton Weintraut and Ida Routledge, who the Protectorate has identified as traitors.

Charlton lives in Westport, so go talk to him. You might be able to persuade him with a successful speech check. If not, you’ll have to locate his home in the abandoned sector and discover his fondness for Aunty’s Choice products to get him to cooperate. However, if you’ve already finished the ‘Brain Benders of Aunty’s Choice’ quest in Outer Worlds 2, you’ll find Charlton at the administration office in Fairfield instead.

Ida is deceased, but the guard needs evidence. You’ll find this evidence at the elevated facility outside of Fairfield – it’s the same location where you unlocked the double jump in Outer Worlds 2. The people there will tell you Ida jumped into the machinery. To get proof, you’ll need to retrieve her arm from the machinery and show it to the guard.

Working with the Protectorate will likely disappoint Inez, but it could still be a better outcome than other choices.

Option 2 – Hand over Inez

If you take Inez to the bridge, the guard will recognize her as a wanted person. You can prevent a fight, but the guard will offer safe passage in exchange for Inez instead of your original offering. Accepting this means losing Inez as a companion forever, which isn’t recommended unless you want to make a selfish decision.

Option 3 – The old fashioned way

You could always fight your way through, though it won’t be easy. The station is well-protected by soldiers and automated turrets, but a good plan should get you past them.

Option 4 – Find another way across

Okay, so if you go east, I found this cool little path through the rocks that leads to a half-sunk ship. Luckily, with the double jump, I was able to hop across and ended up on the north side of the island. From there, I just headed back west, past the pier, and spotted an elevator. That elevator takes you right up to the entrance of the Vox Relay – super convenient!
