God of War’s Christopher Judge Wants Kratos in Egypt

Christopher Judge, the actor who plays Kratos in God of War, hinted that a future game in the series might be set in Egypt. At MCM London Comic Con, he explained that an Egyptian setting would be personally significant, as it would bring his career full circle, recalling his well-known role as Teal’c in Stargate.

He concluded by saying that he’s excited about the possibility of a future game, regardless of what form it takes. This information was first reported by GamesRadar+.

For a long time, fans have wondered if the next game in the series would take place in Egypt. With Kratos having already fought gods from Greek and Norse legends, facing Egyptian deities feels like a logical progression for the story.

Reports surfaced earlier this year that Sony was auditioning actors of Middle Eastern descent for a major new game. Many speculate this game is the next installment in the God of War series, potentially set in Egypt.

Beyond the video games, God of War is expanding to television. A live-action series is currently being developed for Amazon Prime Video.

Originally reported by Deadline in March 2022, the series was first developed with Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (creators of The Expanse) and Rafe Judkins, the showrunner of The Wheel of Time. Sony officially confirmed the project during an investor presentation in May 2022.

The show was greenlit in December 2022 and will be a collaboration between Sony Pictures Television, Amazon Studios, and PlayStation Productions.

The show will be released in more than 240 countries worldwide. It will begin adapting the stories from the games’ Norse saga, starting with the events of the 2018 game. Recently, Ronald D. Moore joined the project as showrunner, writer, and executive producer, following the departure of the original creative team who pursued other opportunities.

The world of God of War is growing! Not only might the next game take place in Egypt, but a TV series is also in development. Christopher Judge’s excitement suggests the series will continue to explore different mythologies and settings, leaving fans anticipating future installments.
