Fans were thrilled at the screening to learn that Diablo Cody, the writer of the first movie, is now writing the script for a sequel.
In January 2024, Cody shared that hearing from fans who enjoy the movie brings her the most joy, and she’s still eager to explore the story further.
I’m a big fan of “Jennifer’s Body”! It’s about this high school girl, Jennifer Check, played by Megan Fox, who gets possessed by a demon. It’s pretty wild – she starts targeting the guys at her school. It’s a really unique and fun horror movie!
I remember when this movie first came out in 2009 – it was directed by Kusama and the script was written by the same person who did “Juno,” so expectations were high. It didn’t get amazing reviews right away, and it wasn’t a huge box office hit, but I’ve seen it gain a really dedicated following over the years. It centers around this woman and her best friend, Anita, nicknamed ‘Needy’ and played by Amanda Seyfried, who desperately tries to help her when things spiral out of control. Now, a lot of people see it as a really important feminist film, and it’s become a true cult classic, which I totally get!
Fox and Kusama’s reunion reminded fans of the movie’s themes of female empowerment and friendship.
Boom! Studios also turned the story into a graphic novel, releasing it alongside the movie. Though the film’s initial marketing focused heavily on Megan Fox’s attractiveness and aimed at young men, the movie has gained a dedicated following over time, with viewers now recognizing its clever blend of horror and humor.
Now that a second movie is being made, fans are excitedly wondering what will happen next with Jennifer Check and the rest of the story.
